Sexy, sexy, sexy
I think Nissan is going to make car lovers crazy with the "is it a V6 or V8" debate. The video really tried to point out that growl was signature V8. But it's hard to say, Nissan has such amazing sound coming out of those VQ's
"Formerly known as Jammit - JBO member since 1998" JBOM | CSS.net
If you watched the video: it said V6, 3.8L Twin turbo.
BTW, it's not the Skyline GT-R, it's going to just be the GT-R.

Any skyline GTR or whatever with out an RB is not a skyline.
The rb is what made the car. years of race history. years of experience and years of cult following.
its a sad day when they switch to the v12 or whatever they plan on using.
and If I find out that there doing nothing more then shoving a vq with a turbo on there Im going to nissan and beating the @!#$ out of all da foo's
then again at least the vq will carry the tourch on souding good.
"
boobs now with Riboflabin"
I'm already crazy...does that help?
It sure sounded V8'ish though. but the things Nissan can do with 6's is just short of amazing so i can't wait to see what they do next.

Jcavi: It's NOT a Skyline.
The Skyline in Japan and world wide is the current infiniti G35/Nissan 350Z and Skyline 350 (I'm not sure if the G35 coupe carries over, but that's not big worry). The GTR is going to be it's own car, different platform and I think a VQ engine, but I'm not sure, my command of the Japanese language is slight at best. BTW, the RB series of engines only debuted in 1989, and the Skyline is about what, 30/40 years old? RB's are great, no question, but the VQ series is pretty stout in their own rite, and the new twin-turbo 3.6 litre version will kick serious and copious amounts of ass. Consider what happened when Chevy first popped a LS6 into a Corvette... That's the amount of ass that will be kicked by the GTR.

For real Jcavi , shut up.
Car looks good. i would like to be the guy driving it.
On a side note: I hate the track they are racing on. It is one of the longest courses in GT4 and it sucks.

Same, I really like it on Forza
Yeah, it's alright...I was more interested in the Aston Martin, Porsche, and Mercedes that were flying around the 'ring.
And like the other guys said, its not a Skyline...it's the GT-R. The Skyline is based on a sedan chassis and body work...the GT-R "package" was just an option...like a Z28
The new GT-R will be a different chassis code than the Skyline. If you mean the old ones, they're built off the Sedan Chassis, yes definitely.

I believe this is called Evolution. You know updating a prior version of the car. Say lets use the Tiburon as a example. The old Tiburon when it came out was goofy looking tiny car almost looked like the Elantra I believe they used the same Chasis code and motor for the most part. Now take 2002/2003 when the entire car was changed different motor option completely update suspension, brakes, interior etc.
But he is correct the GT-R package is a option. Like the SE-R Spec V Sentra or basic SE-R just options packages.
Also the Skyline did come in Sedan form as well
Just because it doesn't have Skyline written across the ass end doesn't mean it's not coming from the same heritage. the GT-R badging has always usually been represented by the Skyline for Nissan.
Also I'll suppose you guys know much more then the following article and driver for the Skyline in the SCCA class.
Quote:
NEW YORK - Carlos Ghosn broke the news at the New York auto show on Wednesday, April 12th, 2006 that the next GT-R will be sold under the Nissan badge in the United States.
The all-wheel-drive turbocharged supercar is one of the most highly anticipated launches in history, having been covered and speculated on by nearly every automotive media outlet and has appeared on dozens of magazine covers.
Many speculated that the car would be more likely sold as an Infiniti, due to the car's high-end price.
Igor Sushko, a life-time GT-R enthusiast and the driver of the Nissan Skyline GT-R in SCCA Speed World Challenge GT Series commented: "I am extremely delighted by this news - it seemed all roads were leading for the GT-R to be sold as an Infiniti, especially due to the sticker price and necessity for quality customer and technical service. However, in the end, the Nissan Skyline GT-R has a long-standing legacy - a Nissan legacy. I know this was a difficult decision for Nissan to make, but it is one that is applauded by thousands of GT-R enthusiasts around the world."
The car is scheduled for launch in fall of 2007 in Japan, followed by the United States debut in 2008.
So it is very obvious you all know more then any of the auto magazines covering it and news outlets.
Considering it is called the Skyline on all of them. All hail the org know it alls.
Had to change sig because some dickhead is mad it went 1 letter over size
It states luxury price. Does that mean 40k, 50k, 75k? Anyone know any speculation on pricing?

Sushko drives a 1998 Skyline GT-R. I had said pretty clearly that the Skyline is originally a sedan, you even quoted me... the problem is that the Skyline is a 4 door and 2 door coupe.
The
2007 GTR Proto is NOT A SKYLINE (nor G35/350Z).
Not an evolution, not the same old chassis, not the same old engine, not the same old name... not at all. The Chassis is different, the engine is not a straight 6, the only similarities is AWD, twin turbo, and 4 wheel steer. Otherwise the GTR is its own chassis, it's own engine (although from all accounts its going to be a VQ based 3.8L TT engine), and it'll have a new revision of ATTESSA (ET-S).
I'm not talking out of my ass here, I actually WANT a Skyline, but if I can get a GTR without having to sell my first-born child, an arm, a leg and a soft organ, I'm on it.

There's been a few press releases that have auspiciously DROPPED the Skyline name out of it.
Good on ya for finding the article, but, when a NISSAN EXECUTIVE doesn't mention Skyline when talking about the GTR, you can pretty much put your money on the fact that the GTR isn't a Skyline. Sushko isn't in on the design team, and he doesn't speak for Nissan, this is where you define opinions of those who are not involved, from those who actually make the decisions regarding the car.

With Evolution comes change and naming. The GTR badge has always been associated with the Skyline. Take a look at the car itself the ass end the front screams Skyline. They updated the chasis so what once again it's evolution. So you know since they completely redesigned the Tiburon for 03 I suppose they could of renamed it and sold it off as a higher end car right? Because it was completely different from prior models.
Keep in mind the R34 Skyline would run with Porsches what is the GTR doing? Same thing.
Had to change sig because some dickhead is mad it went 1 letter over size
So, in other words, If Nissan itself don't call it a skyline, it's still a Skyline?
Lots of cars run with Porsches now, hell, even 350z's. Are they Skylines?
The Chassis for the Skyline was the same for about 15 years, and the RB motor was in the chassis for the GTR, now, there is a completely new chassis for the GTR which is not the same as the current Skyline, and it's not even called a Skyline...
but it's still a skyline...
okay.

Alright you two, settle down boys.
Now Matt, you and i usually have similar opinions, but i think that we can agree that although in nameplate, a skyline it is not, the design ( both performance wise and esthetically ) is skyline GT-R inspired.
Like the 350Z is considered the reinvented 300ZX, although they share nothing in common, people still refer to them all as "Z" cars. Consider that they only share one letter in nameplate only, and the GT-R shares three.
