[quote=97cavie24ls(™)]yeah , but big twin turbos are more fun
Because the power output of the LS9 won't be any fun.. get over yourself.

when building a 1000hp car , the s/c can go in the chit can
the motor has the good high flowing heads , block has more strength , and piston oil squirters , add a few changes in other parts
once youve tasted 10's in the 1/4 , you get very hungry , so yeah stock LS9 not enough

You are a @!#$ moron. "Tasted 10's"......
1. Drivability. END game. AND this car is meant to go fast not only in a straight line, but to also compete with the European supercars. 620 to 700 whp = more then enough junior.

I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"

Dude, do your home work before mis informing everyone with what little knowledge you have..
KenneBells new 2.4 rotor Roots style S/c flows more CFM than ever before, and Supports well in the the 1000hp+ range on the corvettes. Just cause you didn't see in in Super street Mag. doesn't mean it doesn't exist..
harrops 2300 blower has been over 1000hp too , BFD
twins are better , for what IM DOING , even a larger single would be ok
also if you 2 idiots read , i posted
I JUST WANT THE MOTOR , meaning i want it for something other than a over marked up vette
so go back and brush up your reading skillz
You're a dunce if you think that engine doesn't have enough power as it is. Get over yourself . . .
yeah building a 8-9sec drag car , screw the s/c
gawd dam you guys are freakin idiots
I'm not the one saying this LS9 isn't fast enough for me . . .
Cause god knows 620hp+ isn't fast enough for anyone . . .

Must be why dragsters that run 4 second quarter miles use blowers huh? Seriously dude. Oh yeah, 8000hp what? Yeah, with a blower.. hhmmm..
If the Z06 in current form can dip into 10's COMPLETELY STOCK, tires and all, what do you think this car is going to be capable of? I am willing to bet a very low 10, MAYBE a high 9 with slicks and one hell of a driver.. who knows.
1983 Camaro Z28
Damn you beat me to the whole 4-second car uses a blower thing...
14.330 @ 96.37mph
a blower that is atleast 5-6 times larger than the 1 on the ZR1
if i was building a street car , it would be s/c
im not building a strreet car , im building a twin turbo drag
still you dick wads loose
The motor itself is more than likely well over 10k

Right. 90% of the people here can't even finish their Cavalier's, but you are bragging about a super drag car, thats engine alone will probably cost 20/30K. When you have it, and can prove your times, feel free to come here and insult everyone. Until then, you're a dunce.

my guess would be closer to 15-20 on the low end. i mean its a BEAST and they arent going to let it go cheap, esp with a MSRP of 100k on the car (the rest of the car isnt worth 90k)
coming back in 2008...
GM PART # 17802397 *
CATEGORY: Eng Asm
PACK QTY: 1
CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $17,495.00
OUR PRICE: $12,890.80
thats for a crate LS7 , so about 15k out the door for the LS9
either way its gonna be cheaper than a 32 valve ZR1 which was 20-25k
my LSx powered car already runs 10's , company that previously owned it has ran 9's in it with a 408
uhm, have you looked at the price of carbon fiber lately?
Its not cheap.
And I would say it is worth the $100k. Look at the price of the competitions cars.

motor...im an idiot
yes, because it's an engine- the only cars that have motors turning the wheels are electric or gas/electric hybrid (nothing personal, someone jumped on me for that one once... I know what you mean
)
the whole "turbo-vs.-supercharger" debate always boils down to your priorities, but IMO, turbo is usually better, just so long as the turbo matches your engine and what you want out of it. however, the supercharger on the LS9 is interesting, since it uses 4-lobe rotors, rather than three. according to Motor Trend "They [GM] started with turbochargers for efficiency's sake, but switched to supercharging when Eaton unveiled its latest four-lobe Roots-type blower. this new unit boasts thermal efficiency of nearly 76 percent (up form 60 in the best three-lobe blowers)- near turbo efficiency with no lag." I would be interested to see this engine converted to twin-turbo, though; it's essentially an LS3 built for boost.

I was just thinking, since I was reading Motor Trend, and they have a short feature about a couple of variations of their new G8 sedan- a wagon and a 'sport'truck (essentially a modern take on the El Camino, but from Pontiac), and the top-level engine for those is supposed to be the LS3, and the LS9 is essentially a reinforced LS3 with a supercharger on top... all that would be left is computer gimmickry- it would theoretically be a direct swap mechanically (so long as you use an LS9 transmission). I can just have pictures of 620+hp station wagons, and get a big smile on my face...
I'm a little bit of a freak like that...
