I have a 2002 Impala ls my security light comes on ocasionally and sometimes when I shut it off it wont restart. I replaced the battery and that didn't help. Anyone have any ideas?
That would be passlock. Dealer fix is like 600, check the wiring first, replace the ignition cylinder second, drive the car off a cliff third. BTW, there should be a 10 minute "relearn" procedure in the owners manual. May work for awhile until you fix the real problem.

It is probably an ignition switch issue.
