Figured i'd start a bit of a build thread on here. No huge plans for this car, it's a daily so it has to stay reliable.
Traded this:
for this:
then it looked like this (winter wheels):
then bought these (fk streetlines):
and these (c5 corvette wagon wheels):
realized it was going to cost me another $1000 or so to have them on the car (after powdercoat, tires, and adapters). Three days after i bought them, my buddy texted me that he was selling these:
(c4 corvette sawblades) complete with brand new falken and the adapters/spacers for a damn good price.
they were a little rough, so i bought this and got to work:
they looked like this:
so friday i finally put everything on, and it looked like this saturday morning (pardon the crappy cell phone picture):
but on the first drive i noticed smoke coming from the rear drivers side wheel well from the tire rubbing the fender. apparently on mkiv's, the rear beam sits so that the drivers wheel is a little further out than the passenger side. I'm going to talk to my buddy at the vw dealership tomorrow to see if its something they can fix by aligning it, or it looks like i may need to have the spacer milled down a couple mm. The front is 4 threads from the bottom, but still has the helper springs in, so it can go a lot lower if i want, and the rear is only about halfway down.
anyways, i had to put the winter wheels back on for now, and it stormed last night, so this is what my car looks like now:
zomg another vw with sawblades!!!
Make sure you anti-seize them FKs.. Ask me how I know.
Oh believe me, I used so much antiseize that it looked like I fisted the tinman.
And yes I know sawblades are played out, but for the price, I couldn't pass on them. Plus now I don't have to blow money on adapters to rock the c5s next year
I demand nicer pictures with the sawblades!

That wheel color choice is too dark on black for my taste... polished, silver, or maybe white would look better IMO to actually make the wheels pop.
