Ive got the 3900 with the 6 speed and its not quite as quick as the 3.6

This does not surprise me one bit, the car has a strong powertrain and a efficient transmission (fuel economy/performance). Curb weight is similar to the competition who has the same general power rating and pulls similar times as well.

On the G6:
3.6L V-6 VVT (LY7) (Port Fuel Injection)
Compression ratio:10.2:1
HP: 252 @ 6300 rpm
TQ: 251 @ 3200 rpm
Redline: 6900
Curb weight (GXP Coupe/ GXP Sedan): 3487lbs/ 3545lbs
6T70 6-speed automatic transmission

If you want to compare to the 3900 V6.
3.9L V-6 (LZ9)
Compression ratio: 9.8:1

Goodwrench, the earlier 3900 that they put in the 06s and maybe the 07s had a 240/240 spread. The one you described is the ones they put in the impalas and such.
