Well, after a few weeks of looking at various different cars, I bought an SVT Focus. It's a 2003 with only 56k miles on the clock. It comes with all the records, original window sticker, etc, and a set of Blizzak snow tires on 16" wheels. It's a huge change from my old car (2200, 3-speed auto) and I'm really excited.

awesome car with decent aftermarket support.I think if ford came out with a turbo model it could easily take on the SS.

They do make a turbo. Unfortunately its only sold in Europe.
Europe has the best Focus hands down LOL

Great car my only complaint about that car and cars like that (civic hatch) is I'm never comfortable driving them. I need to have an armrest especially with stick. I know I'm really crazy with that in all cars I drive but that bothers the piss out of me. Great car non the less, I've seen some pretty sick Focus' before.
I love it. And about them being too slow, i drove a ZX4 and it wasn't SLOW.... I mean it wasnt fast either but it was definately pretty fun on the highway.
If I am right, I think (and I'm just guessing here) the current Focus models all have pretty much the same motor that was in the SVT you have. I drove a 2010 Focus as a rental and my base model Cobalt would rape it 0-to-60. But none the less I'm not a straight line guy so I'd have to say the Focus is a much better handler. And IMHO it's materials are/were much nicer than any Cavalier or Cobalt.

The SVT had a modified Zetec motor that was found in most of the older cars, only in the SVT it came with a factory port and polish, Free flowing headers and a bunch of other goodies that made decent power. The new Foci have the Duratec motor which is the new motor for that platform and is shared with Mazda 3's and ect.
Also, the Auto Foci are lame, the 5-speeds run circles around them.

Very cool! I finally got more pictures. As you can see, it's got a strut brace, as well as a short-throw shifter and a new rear engine mount.
I love it so far and hopefully you'll be just as happy with yours. On to the photos...
Nice, how do you like the short throw shifter? Which one do you have? Wish I had the HID head lights.

Don't know the brand of it. I like it, but when the trans is still cold in the morning it can be a little notchy.
Steeda is the only manufacturer that makes a short throw shifter for the SVT. You can also take the ballast weight off of the underhood shifter assembly for faster shift feel. And change the manual transmission fluid and use GM synchromesh fluid it takes 2.1 quarts.

like Higgins, I think they're slow but they look great and handle like a beast. I'd like to have one for a daily for sure
and the ZXs are slower than piss. my buddy had a ZX3 and even with mods, it was a turd. it could barely outrun my 1.8 8v Golf that only had a cat-back
