Been kicking around the idea of modding the Corolla again.

My wife drives it for the most part, but I feel like I ended up half assing the thing and showing a bit of disrespect to what in reality is a nice car that could be easily made to stand out from the crowd. What do you all think? Maybe I'm just getting all this out of my head so I can look at it as beyond an idea and more of a possible plan, or maybe I just like putting out ideas that ultimately, I'd be piecing together over a while, but either way, this is what I've done:

There are cheap all season mats from Canadian Tire as well. What I'd do is:

Fog Lights - I've been talking about getting a set for winter since the second year I owned the car. They really help in heavy snow and fog (duh).
Wheels for summer - Motegi MR116s probably in 16" and I'd have winters mounted on the steelies.
eBay grille - Yes, its cheap, and yes its probably @!#$ quality, but 1) I don't like the plastic "chrome" and 2) It would accent the black on red look the wheels would give it.
Racing Solution TR front lip - Basically, an ITR lip made for a 9th gen Corolla. And the black would again add to the black and red theme.
Better floor mats - Because it NEEDS them. The cheapos sit over the dead pedal and tend to spill over onto the carpet making it hell to clean in the spring.
Pedal covers - Would be a nice touch, and honestly, easier to clean than the grooves in the stock pedal design.
Shift knob - Something like an OBX Tomcat in silver and black to accent the stock interior.
Muffler and tip - Not a whole exhaust, just a nice 2" in/out muffler and a nice looking tip. Not looking for power, just a nice sound and look.
Eibach springs - Apparently stock shocks/struts do better on these than with stock springs (which, on 9GCs, I'm convinced are shared with a Rav4)
TRD Brake pads - Pads are going to need service by spring anyways, and for the $20 extra, why not?

So should I or shouldn't I? Anything you would do different? I'm not the broke-ass I was last year or the year before, so I can actually do all this stuff. I'm in far less debt and actually have investments and a savings account with money saved for emergencies. I'd ask 9GC, but I'm tired of all the Hellaflush ricers on there, and have found a lot more opinions I take to heart on JBO.

I think it's a good idea. You'll have alot of work in front of you to make a Corolla stand out tough. They look pretty basic in their stock form!

I stay tint windows, add a reasonable spoiler on trunk, lower it and nice wheels will give it a good look.

Good luck!!

That last one is on 9GC and TN. Can't remember who they are. Maybe P0Gi? I'm not a big fan of the whole "stance" thing, but the guy dumped a lot of money into it. The black one looks like XRSfosho's car before he sold it. I could be wrong, though. I'd be going for more of a "tuner" look than those cars.

Now I'm kind of torn between the TR and the Type M lip. I'll be getting one of them after Christmas, just not sure which one I want right now. I'll probably get the muffler on my birthday. Probably going to get a Magnaflow and a nice tip.

LED interior lighting would be cool. Do the dome, vanity lights, glove box, trunk, and even the license plate lights.

I considered a full LED conversion on the interior, and having the instrumentation, HVAC and trans lights in red. I don't think I want any more lighting, though. I find it gets distracting while driving. On a recent trip, my wife had her DS and the dome light on and it was driving me nuts, so I don't really want to have more lights than what's there already. was thinking of getting a set of phase 2 Altis tails (LED), but they're a but more than I want to pay for tail lights.

All three of those Corolla's posted have the same body kit. Must be the only one available that looks good.

I want to wait until winter is over before I lower it. Get one more year of not plowing snow with the bumper. With the weather today, its apparent that I *need* fog lights. It was blowing snow and visibility was piss poor at best. A little more light would've helped a lot. I want to order the good floor mats at the same time (going with Carid.com for those two items) to hopefully save on shipping, and save my carpet.

Umm I only see two different corollas? The 3 pictures of the white one and the black one... The white just had different rims and no roof rack in the first picture

So I never got around to the muffler. I've been looking around, and I'm starting to think Vibrant. Anyone have experience on these mufflers? I'd be switching to a 2.5" inlet and probably getting an axle-back bent to complement the inlet size. They certainly look nice, but how do they flow?

Btw, the fogs and floor mats are on the way. I decided to go with smoked fogs because the look was just too good when I PS'd it on, and apparently they still put out good amounts of light.

Maybe not then. Good to know now rather than after I spend $180 with shipping. Gotta hunt around youtube and 9GC to find a sound I like. The problem is that a lot of people have fart cans or they bought now discontinued axle backs (Greddy, Vibrant, both of which had fart cannons anyways). The TRD is almost $500 for just an axle back (Typical TRD price. Too bloody much for what they're selling).

Been a while since I updated. I have the fogs and floor mats, just waiting for good weather to put the fogs on. I ordered a Magnaflow muffler that I'm getting someone to make me an exhaust with, and I've started looking at wheels/tires (upgrading to 16"). I've also got a parts list for a rear disc swap (but its a LOT of money), and have been looking at new rotors and pads for the front (it will NEED new pads come spring anyways). On top of all that, I'm looking at my lowering options. Recent weather has convinced me not to go too low (bottoming out at stock height), so I'm looking at Eibach or stock XRS springs (people usually sell them off for cheap and they give a .5" drop from stock) with Tokico blues.

There are no pics, but once it starts coming together, I'll post some up. The weather is garbage, there's a metric @!#$ton of snow, and I'm not one to take pictures of boxes of parts. Instead, have a picture of my cats:

Have you driven one? I was skeptical until I drove it. Handles great, looks good (except the wheels which I'll be using until next fall when they'll be my winters, and I'll be getting new ones for summer), is a hatchback (always wanted a hatchback, no idea why), and as much as we all think we aren't looking for it in a car when we buy one, amazing safety features.

The post earlier was a little under detailed, so let me elaborate a bit - My wife and I have no kids, and are not having any kids. The Corolla was getting to be a bit of a pain for us and cost way too much for what we were getting. It was a good car, and I'll miss it a bit, but we wanted something smaller. So our day went like this:

Went out and test drove the Yaris RS. Honestly, if you want something small, well built and a blast to drive, you'd love a Yaris. The RS package looks great and with the alloy wheels and lower profile tires, handles great. The killer was that my wife couldn't get used to the gauges being in the middle. It had all the safety and style of the Fit, but those gauges killed the deal. If it were me driving it more often like last year, we'd have ended up in that Yaris no question. We then went for a test drive in the Mazda2. Horrible car. The brakes are awful, the steering was wooden, and the suspension was like driving on stale marshmallows. The Fit was an absolute surprise. It had the fun feel in the corners, MUCH better brakes than the 2 (and about on par with the Yaris), but two things really sold it - The cargo capacity to put the moon in the back, and the great handling. I guess a nice side point is that the sales people were AWESOME, and they gave us an amazing deal on it.Almost 3 grand off the asking price, half off a car starter, and the amazing work effort they put into the sale.

No kids? Should have looked at the CR-Z.,It's the same car as the fit but much sportier. Same storage capacity, and handling, but a little more oomph from the electric motor. But sounds like you found the car you needed and wanted so congrats.
