Isn't trifecta a canned tune that you get in the mail?

Yes I belive so. but they customize your tune for your needs, you tell them what you got or want and the take care of it.

Maybe you guys have forgotten, but Ron (Shifted) did mail-order tunes for a while...at least until he started work on his PCM. I don't recall one person displeased with the results, either.

I still have all the HPT stuff, hopefully the tune goes better for you though, Eco's are temperamental.

that was just a quick quote i found from Ron.

im not saying the mail order tune would be horrible for someone doin I/H/E but for boost i wouldnt touch it.

I did mail-order for a while, got a couple that had good results, but I could never really "dial it in". There are some basic things you can do to get a little more performance, but it'll never be as good as it can unless you have the car.

I never heard of anybody having issues with any of the tunes that I've done.

The only major advantage you can gain from a mail order tune with some of the Jbody PCMs is to change the PE Delay, ETC to make it more boost friendly.

With the ECO ECUs you can't begin to touch timing and for that matter fuel. As PJ showed us in his investigation of the PE Delay his car was getting plenty of KR in stock configuration (assuming its not an isolated issue due to bad gas etc). I saw plenty of KR logging stock tune when I just had an intake and exhaust. Any tuning of timing advance must be done on a per-car basis and logged and adapted to meet that individual configuration. If you start to add airflow mods on top of existing issues related to timing you run into even more problems.

I have stated this before but its of my opinion that the factory eco tune is pretty tweaked to begin with and obviously it is not ideal for every configuration which left the factory floor.
