Anyone running pre00 boosted 1bar MAP?
Monday, May 25, 2009 12:53 AM
Im just curious who may be running the 1bar. My car is a 98. I dont have HPTuners, my buddy does and I have watched and seen how a pain the tuning can be. Cant even really use the commanded afr option. Its always commanding 10.00 at WOT, but right now I got the wideband showing between 11.4-11.7 at WOT. Really worked on the VE tables.

Just want your guys input on this, and your experience with your car on the 1bar boosted, if there are any of you out there running their cars like this. All I got is the LD9 M45, L67 injectors and NGK plugs. Any input on why the 1bar should/shouldnt be done would be appriciated too.

I have a 2bar ready to start the fake 2bar tune, and preparing the file...

I have tuned a 99 cavy with the GM charger. Found it best not to use the 2 bar sensor, but the 1 bar sensor. Unless you are going to push over 11-12psi it is not worth using the 2 bar sensor. You will loose resolution.

It really was not hard to tune. I had not problems getting the car to run at 11.7AFR.

Done both 1 and 2 bar.

Had both running almost flawlessly.

Most ppl say "it can't be done" to a lot of things... but with enough time and desire, it can almost always be done.

50% of it is patience and knowing how to use a calculator.

Screw the 2 bar. Mines on a 1 bar and it runs awsome.

Yeah... follow that fantastic advice if you like having zero control over timing under boost at various RPM's. ^^^

While it's possible with the GMSC to get away with it due to the linear powerband, with a turbo I do not recommend it.

Even with turbo, if you are running low amount of boost 10psi or less then using the 2 bar you loose resolution. I think it all comes down to the set-up, and how much boost your going to run.

Boosted baby is up and over 20 psi, on a turbo. It's not smart.

I agree that low boost on a turbo you can get away with it but if you want to run something substantial, it's not the way to go, and there is very little control really from 0 psi to your max psi... just a big hole in there. I don't really recommend that on a turbo setup.

I totally agree with you on high boost set-up.

I dont expect to see more than 7psi on this M45. I bought a 2bar. Should I just throw the thought of a fake 2bar tune out the window since Ill never see that much boost?
