I apologize, I am sure this information has been covered elsewhere on this board, but all I can find from searching is bits and pieces and passing references. You guys are WAYYYY more tuning-knowledgeable than me, and what I need is an idiot-level answer...
I have a 1994 Cavi 2.2L--my understanding is that makes it OBD I. I have tried for the life of me to find out if I can do anything to chip/reprogram the ECM. I know HP Tuners won't work. Some people have told me, no, you just can't do anything for it at all, you're out of luck. Some have told me you can reflash the chip--but I haven't found anyone who can do it, and I am just too dumb about tuning to go out and buy the hardware and software you would need to reflash the chip, if it can be done.
So, someone please help the dummy and explain to me:
(a) Whether, in fact, my car can be chipped/reflashed/reprogrammed or otherwise something done to change the stock programming;
(b) If it involves reflashing the chip, an idiot's guide to how that works;
(c) And if it involves reflashing the chip, if there is anyone around who still does that.
Thanks in advance.
