So i have my eco fully built and ready to tune the saab set up on it. Have been reading about the hp tuners and how to tune my pcm. Please feel free to comment if you feel something is not right.
1. I will log my current tune as a base in case i need to go back to it.
2. I will change my injector constant to .11866 for the cobalt ss green top injectors ex. (24/36) x .17800
3. I will gap my ngk srt4 spark plugs down to .039" because thats what gap the saab 9-3 was originally
4. I will pull 1-2 degrees in the 100 kpa column and 3-5 degrees in the 105kpa column
5. then I will tune fuel and after readjust timing until i get knock.
6. I do not have the pro version so I will have to watch the wideband or log it in the ac pressure signal, if i do this I can log the wideband data correct?? I know i have read the how to in the corvette forums and such just making sure.
7. as for fuel I just have to fatten it up where the saab turbo comes alive right? mostly 1500 rpm to like 3000 rpm??
thanks for all the help guys!!
jason
Will turn off open loop too.
Ive found it gets pretty dead around here on the weekends except for the performance and photos/media forums but they are even slow compared to week days.
You need to log your wideband and you need to use it to calculate afr error and you need that in the historgram to be able to tune right. I mean you cn bs a tune by just looking at the wide band but you might as well be tuning it by someone doing pulls in front of you in another car and trying to smell if its too rich or not.
And I take it you're doing a 1 bar and not a fake 2.5 bar.

Yes 1bar also if I log my wideband from Ac signal can I do everything as if I had the pro?
Thx leafy!
Yes you can do everything. Its just a tad harder because you med to make custom pids

How would I do that? I know it's kinda hard but would really appreciate the help leafy.

well if you use an LC1 and the air conditioner line then your wideband pid is.
([PID.7101]/.5+10 (this is assuming you program the lc1 output to 10:1 to 20:1 the 0.5 is the number that will change if you change that. To find out how it will change look up the how to on sending your wideband in through the ac pressure sensor)
and your afr error is
100*((([PID.7101]/.5+10)-[SENS.121])/[SENS.121]
You can find out how to make custom pids from any of the many walthroughs on the hpt forums or even the hpt help files.

Everything else that I had listed look ok?
Sounds good. 2 suggestions. 0.032 plug gap and drop your PE engage way way way down and once fuel is tuned rough figure out what rpm you need your pe mode to come on
Get in 5th gear down at 1200 rpms and keep adding throttle until 0 psi on the boost gauge, write down tps signal (requires you to have a decent sized tps gauge on your gauge display in hpt) and keep going up in increments of the tps PE enable table. Once 5th gear gets too fast use 4th.

Pe enguage down to like 1k? Because the Saab turbo comes on quick huh?
wouldnt you want pe at zero just like na? just asking im tuning in a few weeks..

Why would you ever put it to zero? Especially NA, thats just asking to bog off the line, heck I'm blown and my pe delays is at 1500.

ok wait i thought pj said set pe at zero...... doesnt pe restrict the amount of fuel your getting at wot? i have mine set to 2000 now but thats just cause i didnt know what i was doing at the time i used hpt.....i didnt wanna be too low or too high
Going into PE mode switches you to the PE spark table and it also changes your commanded afr to the PE afr that you set. That afr is always richer than stoich and it should be between 11.8:1 and 12.8:1. Now if you smash the gas at 800 rpms while in gear with no PE delay you're gonna dump a whole lot of fuel and bog the car, whats why PE delay is in there, so that there is a couple second delay between smashing the gas and entering PE mode below that rpm threshold.
