Oh how I would just like to kick back and let this sort itself out.
I have a engine light on, so armed with a wrench in one hand,
and a little more than my wits in the other, here I go head first into diagnosis.
get scanner, unplugging the battery, no work-ie..
"...P0141..." umm... O2 sensor heater circuit malfunction (bank 1, sensor 2)
bank 1? ahh 4 cyl..
1 bank..
O2 sensor...easy
O2 sensor Heater? "...there are two modes of operation on a computer controlled vehicle "open-loop" and "closed-loop" The vehicle operates
in open-loop mode when the engine is cold, before it raches normal operating tempreture.....open loop...O2 readings ignored.....produces more emissions....closed loop...better... Heater intigrated in O2 sensor to speed "closed-loop" operation... "
ahh makes sence..
what.. 2 sensors..
1 heated, (down stream from cat) 1 non heated (on manifold)
ok..
"....change sensor...perform OBD2 Drive Cycle Test, test is VEHICLE SPECIFIC... see your manual for details..."
checked manual.. no info... checked VEHICLE MANUAL.. nothing there either..
I have a 2000Cavalier, Z-24 (ld9 engine) auto, w/air.. and I am wondering if anyone knows
where I can find this "OBD2 Drive Cycle" information??
Because I stupidly changed the wrong 02 sensor, and I am gettinga barrage of different codes now, from "Voltage too low during power enrichment"
to "02 sensor Malfunction, voltage too high"
arrgh... all I know is that its off warrenty.. and all these problems show up..
I cleared the MIL code today, and I should have that O2 sensor changed by the weekend... pretty pricy though...
does anyone have any more information about this "OBD2 Drive Cycle" for the 2000 Cav?
If you have HPT, its real easy to get completed readiness tests
