For everyone that asks how to remove mouldings!
First you need these things
- make sure the area is clean
- heat gun or hair dryer
- strong fishing line & gloves!
- goo gone works perfect!
- paper towels
- wax
- buffer
- a few thumbs!!
- and a lot of patince
First you take the heat gun and heat the moulding being careful not to melt it and slide the fishing line behind the moulding and slide it up and down be careful because the fishing line will cut the moulding if your not careful.
I hope i dont have to tell you but repeat for all sides
After you remove all of the moulding heat up the tape a little and roll it with your thumb as my friend eric demonstrates so well

spray the goo gone where the tape was a let it sit for a few seconds and then wipe it off with a clean cloth its going to take some work to get all of the crap off but it will and when its done its deffintly worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice post, been thinking about doing this for a while maybe I will get around to it now, quick question though, my buddies got a 95 Cav coupe and his black moldings are ugly as puck, so is the process the same as on my 04? <br>
Haha I just did mine! Damn my thumbs hurt haha looks super sweet tho. I used Super de Gooper to get off my adhesive worked awesome. Also once you get the middles side moulding a bit off, slowly and carefully slide an exzacoto (no idea how to spell that) Knife and cut the adhesive soooo much quicker and easier then the fishing line thing. You will need the fishing line to get it started tho. Nice pics for instructions tho. I kinda just winged it and hoped that it worked.
Yeah man that looks really good and, it looks like shaved handles are in the very near future for you. Either that or else you just like not being able to open your door.
Anyway I have been wanting to do this but I want to have someone help me basically just to hold the blow dryer, but unfortunately all my buddies have been busy for a while now. Oh well soon enough it WILL happen.

scorpiol be careful though because the paint under your friends moulding might be nicer looking because it hasnt weathered like the rest of the car so heads up! good luck. yellow eco you said it im just perfecting my welding skills before i fill them. <br>

dont EVER use paper towels on your paint. paper towels are a HARSH abrasive to the soft clear coat. you need to use very soft rags. if you use paper towels, feel free to look at your paint afterwards. you more than likely have created deeper scratches than swirlies, and good luck at using ScratchX to try to get them out. rule of thumb is this: would you use paper towel to wipe your butt? probably not, cuz u'd have one sore @!#$ booty when you're done. so if it aint soft toilet paper or rags, DONT USE IT ON YOUR PAINT. <br>

Little off topic, but how are you going to get into your car once the handels are shaved? I was watching "Pimp my ride" on MTV and they shaved the handels on a 1985 Ranger. They put in door poppers that would open the door when you pushed a button on the keyless entry pad. Is that what you are going to do? Just curious...that would be awsome. <br>

I think i may be doin my moldings as soon as i get home from school for the year. Thanks for the awesome directions. I have one question though. My car is black and im afraid that the paint wont match under the moldings. If it doesnt match is there a way i can put the moldings back on? <br>

I have the spal 35lb door kit. I got this kit so i could open my doors trunk and turn on all of my neons with my remote. I used shop towels when i did my moulding and nothing happend. Good advice though viper! I just used the paper towels in the pick because i used my last three shop towels on my car. <br>

I very carefully used a plastic putty knife to get started and slowly pulled them off. I dont worry about someone opening their car door on me just park in bum blank egypt. They also hide dirt and hold moisture which is not good. <br>

Looks just like how i did mine. It turns out right after i took mine off that all sorts of cars would seek out mine in the very back of the parking lots just to open their doors into my car and piss me the hell off. it looks totally sweet, but people seek out my car now. <br>
