most people have put it behind the tail light, so it just swings out and there's the gas cap.

I'm thinking of doing this too.

Is there any "How-To's" on the relocation behind the taillight.

Or does anyone know what hinge to use on the taillight?

I always wondered, is there any issue with filling the car full of gas then? Issues with the needle or overflow? I wanted to do this but never heard anything about filling problems or any problems at all.

I relocated mine, no one(to my knoledge) has ever done it before. I have pics somewhere, if you need em email me.

I took and Cut the Passengers side c-pillar right where it meets the back window then did some cutting and trimmeing and went thu a couple latch ideas and finnal made the part i cut into a door, then I cut a hole in the fenderwell, reardeck and a big one in the metal portion of the c-pillar.

Yes My fuel filler runs inside the car
No it dosent leak
Yes it was a PAIN IN THE ARSE to do!

yes i still have the lambo gas door as it gets called lol.

I plan to put a poper on it sometime when i take the time *shrugs*

My question for you all that have done it is how did you extend the gas line? The stock line is metal, did you all just drain the tank, take it off, and then cut the pipe or what?

That link for "Gas Cap Relocation" shows the lens to open one way. But I have seen it open the the oppisite. I believe it was cookie monster who did it. Does anyone know what kind of hinge was used? Would it be the same one?

This is my brief tutorial on how to shave your gas lid. I just recently did this to my car so its fresh in my head. As most of you know the car is getting heavily modded So I wanted everything shaved. I put a brief description with each picture so you know could easily figure out whats going on.

Ok first off I Cut a hole in my rear inner fender well so I could bring the pipes into the trunk (Refer to Picture 1).

Picture 1

I noticed I needed to extend my pipes before they went into the trunk. (Refer to Picture 2 & 3).

Picture 2

Picture 3

I then got the bend in the pipes to flow upward to the gas cap. Once you reach the desired angle then i welded the extension to the bend.(refer to picture 4)

Picture 4

I had to cut the pipe shortly after the bend so that I could make a hose extension up to my trunk jam.(Refer to picture 5 & 6)

Picture 5

Picture 6

I had issues with gas cap hitting on the trunk so i shaved off that goofy raised bar. (refer to picture 7)

Picture7

Now comes the part where you get to actually remove that stupid gas door opening.

First off you have to remove the inside mounting piece for your gas door. This is located just behind the rear quarter panel (refer to picture 8)

Picture 8

Once you have removed the mounting piece for your gas door. Then you make a metal plate to fit up from behind the rear quarter panel. (refer to picture 9)

Picture 9

Becareful when welding on this inner plate. Be sure to do tack welds diagonaly from each other. This is to prevent warping of the rear quarter panel. Once you have it all welded in you then grind down your welds. After that spread some all metal over the gas cap. Then i used body filler to get the rear quarter panel flowing smoothing together. Here is a picture of the finish product

Sorry for the long post but I know most of you are looking for some guidance here. Hope i helped most of you out. Good luck and Trust me this Job took a long time to do correctly. Its not just an overnight job. Your hardest task in my opinion is relocating the gas pipes.

Thanks,

Derrick Hudson

thanks for the pics...couple questions, the vent hose from the tank, did you just leave it how it is in that pic sitting in the fender well?

and as for keeping the neck of the filler in place did you weld it to the the truck where the gas cap goes on or did you use some other method?

thanks

O no... I made sure I bolted the pipes back down to the car. I have sealed the hole around the inner fender well so that there is no gaps also around the pipes.

WIth the neck. I made a U bracket to fit around the neck and i made tabs at the end of that bracket so i can weld it to the inner fender well. This made it very stable. Sorry i dont have pics of that but my pictures are not yet updated b/c my camera is at the shop.

from my experience the easiest most efficient way, as far as extending the pipes that is, is go to a auto parts store and ask for some rubber hose, tell them it is for gas and there you go, it is a lot easier then cutting and welding pipes and all that stuff, alot quicker and works just as well, hope this helps, later

pic coming soon

Right.. I did the same thing for my hose extension in my trunk. But i didnt want a rubber hose extension in my rear inner fender well. Especially with it being right by the tire. I would much rather depend on the metal than a rubber hose there. Thats Y i chose to weld in a metal extension. Also I wanted it to look as stock as possible.
