White J-body's.

Well just got done washin my car today at the touchless and got home and look at it really good. I get these damn little pin head size rust color dots everywhere from the front fender back to the rear passenger door all the time. I have been just rubbing them out with my finger nail and wax the car. How do you guys deal with this darn delema? I heard about the clay bar and never used it before so i might give that a whirl.

I used to have them on the bottom of my rear bumper but since having the car repainted I've been lucky thus far. I was told once what the proper name was they called that but I forgot, and was also told you can get some out but not all. All cars get those over time, its just a downside of having a white car, the smallest thing shows.

I usually can get them all out with a little effort. I love a white car, just these damn specs are annoying. You can't see them from 3 feet away its just when your really close up.

Last summer I noticed what looked like my trunk was starting to rust. I asked my dad and he said it was something about the road debris? idk. I'm going to try the clay bar, it just needs to be warmer. But I did use a dish cleaning sponge (two-sided with rough and soft sides). I used the rougher side but just rubbed the spots with a little pressure and most of it came off. So far I haven't had much of a problem but I'm noticing that they're coming back.

Claying the car works wonders, I have never had the rust spots but I have a 95 with original white paint and its as smooth as glass.

You are real prone to getting those if you cross rail road tracks alot when you commute.

Yeah guys, I just noticed this too.. The little rust spots comes from little tiny sheet metal on your car. Then when you wash it, it rust. I was cutting holes in my trunk and afterwards I cleaned up as much as I could but I guess not enough because the next day when I washed the car I had those little rust spots and I was like WTF. I put 2 and 2 together and figured why it was there lol.. The clay bar took it right off needless to say.

Your dots don't sound like what this thread is about. I've had those spots on my urethane bumper since day 1. Clay bar wouldn't get them out (used the Meguiar's bar with the spray).

Just be careful using the rough side of the sponge. I have the same little spots on my car and thought a rough sponge would work great but when i did this it left a lot of little scratches that were a pain to get out. The sponge that I used was a Scotch-Brite No Scratch sponge and it still left scratches so be careful with what you use to remove those little spots.

Yeah that was a one time thing and I didn't use it very much, just enough to where they weren't noticeable anymore. Instead of using a sponge next time, I'll be using a clay bar since I've found more spots and not just on my trunk.

Okay my car isn't white but I know what your talking about, the clay bar takes it off with ease, Someone told me at a body shop that it's rail road dust??? I don't drive near that many rail roads but he said thats just the name of it???

i have em on my roof... i just thought the guy who painted my car was a fag and did a @!#$ty job..

railroad dust....

how long does the effect of the clay bar last? if i use it next week, will the spots come back soon? then it's kind of a "f- that" kinda situation...

Yah those dots are dust from railroad ties or from when you brake, but a clay bar should take them all off.....

Once you clay bar them they are gone for good it's just a matter of how long until you pick up some more dust
