i searched but still a couple cavfire questions

2 things.

1. will the front end of an 03+ sunfire bolt up and fit with an 01 cav?

2. will the hood specifically of an 03+ sunfire bolt up on an 02 and BELOW cav, considering that the front end was changed to a sunfire of 01-02?

yes, you will need fenders, lights, fender liners, light brackets, hood, and i think a new hood latch (not sure), bumper and crush panel

you shouldnt need fenders??? All fenders cav/sunfire are same all years.. When I fixed my fire in October I got a fender of an 03 and it bolted right on. So no you wont need fenders.. that's a misconception everyone makes. cavys and fires fenders are identical.

^ no, the fenders aren't the same. sunfire's don't have the cutout for the corner lamp and they look a little more flared.

yes they are the same because the part number is identical when you order a new one from GM. I work at a body shop.. I KNOW...
where the cutout is for a corner lense on a cavy.. is filled in by the bumper on a sunfire... . like i said.. I HAVE A CAVY FENDER ON MY CAR... I should know..
THE ONLY difference is the brace that holds the corner lamp on the cavys.. you'd jsut have to get a brace or take one off a cavy fender... when you do a cavyfire swap you dont need to change the fenders... my best friend and my cousin did the swap. so once again... fenders are the same. want to argue some more?? check this out:

Cavalier/Sunfire Swaps
Yes you can swap the front end of a cavalier with that of a sunfire. It is not hard either. You will need the following items from for the front end.
Hood
Headlights
Headlights Wireharness
Hood Latch
Fenders
Front Bumper

Quote:

Quick List of Goodies:
1) Hoods on 3rd Gen J-bodies are the same for that car from 95-02, 03+ is different.
2) Fenders are all the same on 3rd Gen Jbodies
3) Three different bumpers for 3rd Gen: 95-99, 00-02, 03+
4) Trunk lids for cavaliers are same throughout 95+
5) Trunk lid for sunfires changed in 03
6) Side skirts are interchangeable between sunfires and cavaliers.
7) Some side skirts are interchangeable between 4door and 2door jbodies (ex. Importfighter, z24, buddyclub 2, anything that does not flare up at all)
8) If you have 00-02 base model cav, and you want the z24/LS lips, the easiest part would be the buy the whole front bumper. There are many holes cut into the bottom side of the bumper for the clips to run through. You can do it yourself, but it takes time. You decide.
9) Yes there are convertible jbodies. It would be very hard though to convert you non-convertible into one. I suggest against it, just go out and buy one.
10) Yes a targa-top (sp?) Can be done, but will lots of fabrication. If you know what you are doing, then I do not have to explain what needs to be done. If I need to explain, you have no business even thinking about it.

*check out number 2

This is all information from dazink's sticky on the exterior form...
Still want to argue? Then your not worth it.. because my grandfatherh always told me, only a fool argues with someone dumber than themself.

I'm afraid the only fool here is you! You are so wrong that you are too stupid to open your eyes and look at SIMPLE PICTURES. Here let me make it easier for you (photos borrowed from ebay auctions).

1995+ Sunfire fender:

1995-1999 Cavalier fender:

2000+ Cavalier fender (note no corner light mount):

YES these all have different part numbers, if you want I can give you them too.

Ah the trouble we go through to point out to the stupid people just how deep their ignorance goes.

FYI before you post back. I do work at a dealership if you need the part numbers I can get them for you. I would hate to have my car at your bodyshop. I guess that is why you just work there.

not trying to post jack but does anyone have a part number for the headlight harness? i'm converting a 98 cavy into a 95-99 sunfire, so far i've got the headlights lol but i've got the harnesses plug on the headlight with a 15 inch lead wire that has 3 wires and i'm wondering if i can either swap the harness straight over or just simply take the hotwire for the high beam and connect it to the hotwire on the harness of the headlight and connect both grounds to the single ground wire? or will this cause a problem? thanks in advance.

Oh man, you so miss read that.
The first quote even says you need the fenders.

And to clarify that quote of mine:
Cavalier fenders are the same shape for 95-05, but with the execption: in 00 the brackets for the corner lights was taken off.

Fire fender are the same throughout...unless I am uninformed.

I wish I could go back and edit some of that, lots of typos.
