soundin off on soundspeed

well i have purchased the last thing i will ever purchase from soundspeed motorsport, first of all i purchased their type 2 hood 2 years ago fitment disappointing at best. after extensive fiber glass and cutting work get it to fit. now i absolutely love the type two rear. versus has it in urethane for liek 500.00 bucks a little rich for my blood so i give soundspeed another shot. now i know it is fiberglass and fiberglass is far from perfect but once again i am very disappointed with fitment. its a fairly thick bumper so in terms of durability it should be ok bu once again i will have to have my body guy do some building and cutting to make it fit right. so unfortunately i am going to have to give soundspeed a 3 on a scale of 1-10, 10 being totally happy. i just wish there stuff would fit better. just my 2 cents

So you get a bad rear

I get a full kit and there new hood and everything fit perfect execpt for the fact they really only have 95 - 99 so I have to mod the front to fit my 00 - 02 lights which i knew before buying.

so on a 1 - 10 i'll give them a 10

yeah if i were to rate on the thickness of the fiberglass is the quality and solidness of the bumper is one of the best from a fiber glass kit i have ever seen but fitment is very questionable. this is the second thing i have gotten from them that doesnt fit without some moderate to serious body work to make it fit right. just sounding off that both things i have ordered and have both things not fitting properly. Everybody has their own experiences with a company mine have not been the greatest. unfortunately for body kits i will probably not ever purchase soundspeed again just because i dont want to deal with those kind of fitment issues

I got my kit from them back in 03 I think... well the front was from Pro-Kits (REALLY CRAPPY)... the drift sides... the fitament was horrible!!! The type 2 rear on the other hand... fit pretty good. very little modification needed (still needed... my exhaust doesn't line up right which is throwing hte bumper off).

I coulda told ya the hood wouldn't fit Jared Kelley (Area51) from Racine/Kenosha has one and they also had to rework the entire hood, thing wieghs twice what it originally did now...

Can't wait to see your car done though man.

I had just started installing my complete Drift from them on my 2000 Z24 last night...

I have already had to cut notches by the headlights cause the front is to wide and forcing the top part were it mounts to the fender causes a big bump under the lights.....
We had cut them out and we're going to reglass it tonight.....
Drift sides and Type 2 rear yet to begin...

My front end looks like swiss chesse full of hole l had to cut out so stress bubbles from under the lights from pushing the sides in were they mount to the fenders....
I have to reglass the sides of the front were the wheel well liner screws to cause the more ons grinded to much of.....Still have the Drift sides and rear to go.....GGRRrr

I bought streetfighter sides from them and they were great, now I bought a new full kit from them and the BC back bumper is such a horrible fit that I have to take it to Toronto (not too mention buy another bumper or trailer my car there!!) for them to install it cause they say they can make it fit perfect guaranteed. I don't know how cause there is a big gap under the taillight filler plates and the trunk lid....

I bought my hood from there and it fits fine. I haven't attempted the rest of my kit but plan on it this weekend.

I actually just bought a kit from them about 2 months ago. I got the type 3 rear, type 2 sides and BX sides. They said they would have installed it for 130 dollars. Should have had them do it. I drove there from PA just to save on shipping and actually I got screwed because of the poor fitment. THE only thing that I put on was the type 3 rear. It was like the ocean when I bolted the sides up. Rippled every place. I understand about the l brackets but this is rediculus. I took the bumper of untill I can afford to get it put on by a body shop./

see thats my problem i shouldnt have to drive to canada just to get a kit fitted right. it makes you wonder what they have to do to make stuff fit too. you would think that would be a warning light "hey maybe we need to look how we make our stuff". but i guess not. iwouldnt even mind paying a little bit more if their stuff just fit better

Lil cavy, jareds bumper was the same way, huge gap underneath the tailights and trunklid to where the bumper was. They give you a support bracket for it though, even though it is pretty gay. Just a very thin cheap piece of straight angle which you have to cut and bend so it follows the curve of the rear. Something you could pick up at fleet farm or homedepot for a buck or two. Think they could at least give you a curved piece with some thickness that had holes drilled to mount it right on the car without modifying that too.But once that was on and the bumper slid over the top the gap is good and even. The problem was the bumper was too short on the sides, even with the plastic side bumper retainers(there are bolts in the wheelwell and inside trunk for them) slid back as far as they can go, so gonna add on to the sides a little so don't have to force so much to get it on. Couldn't just slide the bumper straight on like a factory one. Shouldn't be a major amount of work though. Something I can deal with. The hood on the other hand, was a big pos. Didn't even come close to matching the curve of the fenders and ton a of slicing and fiberglassing and filler work tp get it fitting somewhat decent. Could use a little adding on to the sides also, cause with the fenders flush with the doors the gaps are a bit wide.

I got a support bracket and it still doesn't pull it up high enough. It fits perfect in the wheel wells and then when it comes to the taillight trunk area it isn't built high enough.

That sounds like a crappy deal for everyone. Just to let you guys know though, that support bracket has to be put on just about every cav rear to make it fit the line on the trunk.

yeah that i know, i have no problem with the support brack it seems to be doing fine its the overall fitment that is the problem

i guess its back to the old sayin you get what you pay for. like honestly what do you exspect a full kit for like 500.00 bucks. im not trying to start a fight its just my opinion.
