Alright guys .. New to the forums .. not new to the site .. anywho .. I know theres company's out there looking to help out the mini truckers. So I said what the hell .. why not start doing stuff for the cars.
So Im lookin to start making weld-In filler plates for alot of cars ... door handles , antenna's , key wholes , 3rd brake lights, maybe some taillights
givin the fact my brother has a sunfire .. why not cavy's and sunfires. I was lookin for some imput from you guys on who would be interested .. or am I just setting myself up for a mess. If things look good Ill start makin them. Decent price and fast turn around .. plus Im a pretty easy guy to work with.

^^^^ thats a good thing tho, well for us customers it is.... competition = lower prices.
I dont know how many you would sell tho, cause they are not that hard to make, i had all of mine cut out in like ten minutes. (handles, locks, trunk lock, and trunk tails).
taillight fillers might sell a little better tho, because some might not want to mess with getting the curves right.

and thats exactly my point .. some people might not have the tools , know how, ect... to do some of those things ... maybe ill still make a few

what about gas door fillers? .. already made a few of those
i say go for it. like you said, not everyone has the materials or time to shape the metal that they'd need. probably also save on body shop time if they take their car to a shop to have the inner tails and stuff shaved.
I would buy the gas door filler and tailight filler from you, but i have access to a shop, with lots of tools and sheetmetal, so it would be a waste of money for me. IMO those two would be your bestsellers.

If I can't do it (don't exactly have the best of tools...) I'll prolly buy the full set instead. Also, on the subject of Cavies, there's the piece underneath the taillight. I haven't come across it in metal, and would prefer metal over f/g or plastic for some custom work I'm gonna do.

I had some free time tonight and made one up .. now if you guys want them kick ass .. i can make a bunch more .. but i will not bend them for you .. the bend to fit your fender is real minor .. and heaven forbid gm decided to punch one cavy .. just a wee bit different than another . thats I come real close to fittin the filler in perfect , but may leave a SMALL amout if you guys need to grind just a tad more off ..

if it is both, and the tails fit like the gas door does, i may just go ahead and order them both from you. I only need the outers tho, the inners are already gone.

Honestly, I am going to say this from my perspective and just take it for what its worth.
I have my Door handles shaved, Gas door shaved, antenna shaved, and Inner and Outer Taillights Shaved.
The shop made all the panels out of sheet metal and they expressed that it took them a mear 20mins to cut out ALL the panels. Now obviously times may very but the point i,m getting at is this.
If people are buying the panels from you because they don't have access to the tools to make themselves. They really shouldn't buy them at all.......because what are they going to do when it comes to tack welding them into the car and doing all the nesseary work to make them fit and flow with the car. and if they aren't doing the work themselves.....Then the shop their taking it too should be more then able to make those panels at the same price you might be charging if not cheaper (because their already doing the work)
So this is just coming from my first hand experience. Hope this points you in the right direction and good luck to your company if you do in fact go into the biz.

i do appreciate ur opinion .. but most bodyshops wont deal with custom rides .. not worth the money or the hastle unless its a hot rod shop .. but see its all about helpin one another out .. they may not have a welder but know someone who does .. when i shaved my first ride i didnt have a welder nor did i even know how to weld .. but i found someone , they showed me .. ect. Im tryin to get alot of kids away from the ricer scene and get back down to real customizing .. so if it takes one of my plates for them to learn how to weld , or how to do body work or whatever .. then kick ass.
Im not pushing you guys to buy these... it was an idea and i appreciate the advice/feedback.
but for you who keep askin i havent even made a taillight filler yet .. dont have a cavy trunk ... the only thing ive made is the gas door filler. but if anyone in MI wants to let me use there car ill cut ya a hell of a deal .. thanks again
