Well guys, i finally bought the kit!! I ordered it from Karo and its probably gonna ship out tomorrow so im trying to get ready for it. Ive searched and really havnt found a WHOLE lot of info on it. Mainly just lil things here and there scattered around everywhere. SO, i need some answers on some things.
First of all i have an SE so i got the bumpers, skirts and door panels. Now, does mesh grille come with the kit? If the grille DOESNT come with it where are ya'll gettin it from? I dont want any Gutter crap.
Now, i wanna have everything ready and i hate guessing so what size of fog lights do i need for the front? I searched and couldnt find anything on them.
Now, on the front and rear bumpers, specifically the crush panels/guards. How much am i removing ? Am i more or less shaving the front down or what? I dont want any sag etc.
And now the skirts and door moulding/panels. Did everyone just use self tappin screws for the skirts (inside wheel well)? And did everyone use the 3m adhesive strips on the moulding or did you use something else?
Now, i think thats all i can think of now but i will be posting some pics tomorrow (BEFORE PICS) of the car and then i will update with new pics whenever the kit gets here!!
Thanks in advance!!
Congrats on the kit. I love mine. The grilles do NOT come with the kit, but RK makes a grille kit that Karo carries that comes with precut grilles for the front and rear bumpers.
For the crush guard, I would say try fitting the bumper and see where it's hitting and trim there. Definitely don't just start cutting. You want as much left as possible to support the bumper and protect the car.
Sorry, but I have nothin on the sides. I like the drift skirts better so I have them, but I haven't put em on yet. I would say self tapping screws in fenders, screws in the brackets underneath, and double sided mounting tape along the panels. I've seen a lot of people who had to put a screw in the top of the side skirt into the quarter panel but I don't know if theres a way around it or not.
One last thing. Save the plastic brackets that attach the stock bumpers to the car and use them for the streetfire bumpers.
Good luck man, you're gonna love the new look.

This is the newest addition to the RKSport Body kit line up. This high impact, all urethane body kit is guaranteed to turn a lot of heads while cruising down the road. The kit includes Front Bumper Replacement W/Grille insert, Rear Bumper Replacement, Side Skirts and Door Panels.
Thats from his site and it says it comes with grille. I just noticed that. Hmmm, but it dont? Thats weird...
Anywho, what did ya use for foglamps in the front? More specifically what size? I need to buy some so i will have em ready
RK Sport says to use self-tapping screws in the wheels wells to attach the sideskirts. As for the tape, if its not provided with the kit, I would suggest going to the local GM dealership and asking someone in the parts department what kind of tape is used to attach the stock side moldings, because that is the stuff you are going to want top use with the kit. I used 3m VHB double-sided tape to attach the streetfire sides to my cav.
For the lights I used my stock GT turn signals. I would say your best bet would be to check local junk yards.
As for the grilles, I ordered mine like a year ago, so it's entirely possible it's changed and you are getting the grille kit with it. I would email Karo and ask him, he was always able to answer my questions when I ordered mine.
-Chris
Yeah when he e-mails me back ill ask him bout the grille.
and thanks Cracker, i might do that.
GT lights...i didnt even think of that. So by any chance do you know what dimension they are(2" etc.)??
I'm not sure. I'll try and measure them tomorrow if I can get ahold of a tape measure or somethin. I'm at school so I don't have my tools or anything to measure it at the moment.

the GT turn signals from a 95-99 sunfire will work just fine, otherwise, the amber turn signals from a 00-02 sunfire also fit. you can order new clear turn signals from a dealership for around $70-80.
for the front bumper, i didn't trim any of my crush guard and it fits perfectly. the crush guard actually helps support the bumper, and without it, the bumper will sag.
for the side skirts, use self tapping screws in the wheel wells. go to any home improvement store and pick up some double sided mounting tape, because the stuff that comes on the side skirts won't hold up for long. 3M or Scotch makes some good stuff.
Thanks Cannon, ill do that. 70ish bucks for lights
?? Dang, i, just gonna get some at pep boys or something. It would be easier for me to know what size they are. Somebody MUST know
well, you can check ebay or
http://www.car-parts.com and get em for next to nothing, but they will be in used condition. but at least they will fit without modification, whereas getting something aftermarket will require modification to fit.
damn you guys didn't get much with your kits, I got the mesh with mine plus my sideskirts and door panels had the tape already on them. I pulled my crushgaurds so yeah my front sags a little, but in the near future I'm getting fiberglass fender or just doing a cavalier front end conversion that way I can have a nicer front and headlights to add. I actually just took off my door panels a few weeks ago and I think the kit looks better without them. I'm gonna sand and do some bondo work and getting the skirts molded in so I can get this car repainted. aight peace out and good luck with the kit.
4 months in Korea = 17" rims
4 months in Iraq = Bodykit
Not having mommy and daddy pay for everything = priceless
okay here goes. for the front bumper. head to a junkyard and pull the lights ouf ot a nother fire. the amber or clear will work, though the clear look better (im still searching for a set of clear (dont want to spend the money at the dealership right now))
the front should come with the mesh. when i bought my kit it did. as for the crush gaurd, if you dont trim it down some your bumper wont fit as good as it should. just stick the bumper on and u can see what will need trimming down, i put the bumper on, marked where the crushgaurd was hitting the top of the mouth opening pulled the bumper off and used a dremel to trim it down, only took 15 minutes, and gave the bumper a better fit.
as for the side skirts, if you have a se, you need the mounting brackets as well. so make sure you ordered and se kit or they wont come with it, this is a long metal bracket, about 3' long that attaches to the car, and the side skirt attaches to it. i used metal screws into the fenders and rear quarter panel. the side skirts will also come with the tape on them allready.
for the rear you should just need to trim the crush panel as well.

Thanks alot man. Yeah, i made sure and told him i had an SE and wanted the door panels etc. Also, he emailed me and told me that the mesh DOES come if you buy a full kit (which i did.).
Im excited and awaiting his email. I sure hope its not backordered! Shouldnt be though...right?
Thank ya
It will look better with the kit painted etc.
BTW, anyone know where to find some cheap replacement headlights? I want new ones cuz mine r dull and yellowish. I buffed them and burnt them and need new ones LoL
Most place are around 80 bucks new. Anyone know of anyplace cheaper?
I like the sunfire lettering on the glove box area. Dont think ive ever seen that done before.
2.2 OHV 2.4l coming soon
2.25 inch custom exhaust
WAI
RK Underdrive pulley
50 shot of NX
pacesetter header
I will fix all of these right now!
BTW this is TRD Cav Fire posting this info for you...
As for triming the crush gard you don't have to, but it would look a ton better if you take some off the bottom other wise it will show from the grill in the front. Like many others I did show some heat issues with that bumper before I swaped to the TRD front bumper. I would say look up the fan over ride switch because it will help you in traffic big time. I did buy some fog lights from pepboys at one point. I think they where Cyber White or something like that. You really can't fit them in the wholes with the gards on them, but if you take them off and drill on the sides of the holes for the turns you can just have them bolted from the sides, but later after I broke a few learning to drive with them I got the clear GT turns and left them as turns.
Pic's of bumper with fogs I think they are 3", but I can't remember for sure.
GT turns
One of the last few pic's of my car as a Fire, and before we took Major's car to the bash and messed up is front. I miss driving both of those cars.
Last pic of my car as a Sunfire that I have on this computer
So I lied a little, but it is crapy pic
Spydarfire <reason I loved the kit so much, but I love my TRD better.
It is late and I don't feel like reading it all to make it make since, but have fun enjoy the pic's and I hope I helped. BTW I think you trim 2 levels of the lower cruch gard on all three parts and it will be perfect....
-Erin
enjoy having a kit that's only a few inches off the ground since you're lowered.
it's a low one for sure.
I will
My cav i bought was pretty low and i kinda learned how to drive with it. Now its time for the final test
Im gettin excited! woop!!
