Future mods for my Cav
Friday, July 15, 2005 6:08 PM
I'm in the mood to tell someone of my ideas that I have for my Cav over the next few months. I just want some input on what I plan on doing.
1.widebody - 3-4" per side on rear, 2-3" per side up front
2.shaved taillights (all 4) - 4 L.E.D strips in my rear bumper (I have the xgt rear so there are 2 slits on either side of the license plate holder)
3.97-98 Nissan 240sx healights
4.Class Glass style dual snorkel hood
5.Motorized Diablo Doors
6.Reworked rear bumper so I can run dual center exit exhaust
7.SLR Mirrors
8.Cut hood right down the middle and have it motorized to open at the push of a button
9.Cut trunk right down the middle and have it motorized to open at the push of a button
10.2" chop top (Ive seen it done and I love it)

I want to widen the rear of the car that much because I wan to be one of the only if not the first to properly fit an 18x10" wide wheel on a Cavy.

Thats all the plans I have in-store for the outside of the car at this time. I do have major plans for the interior and engine too but nothing is set in stone yet. Note this will all happen over the course of 2-3 years. I have no idea what I want to do for paint yet but it will be very bright. This car will be a show car only. It will not be my daily driver. And it will most likely be trailered to shows that are more than 100 miles away. But I will drive the car on nice warm summer days. And yes before anyone says something I know this will cost a lot of money to do. But I love working on cars and I plan on doing most of the work myself.

I know this is probly a BS post but I wanted to tell somebody.
Thx,
Michael

Cannon: Yes you do. And I will keep my word, it might take me a little longer than a couple of years but who knows maybe everything will go as planned. All I have left to do is find a good respectable body shop to do most of the work but they need to be willing to work with me and take their time and show me what to do because this is what I want to do for a career.

Project Crash Pattern: Like I sadi above customizing cars is what I want to do for a career, so why not start learning now on my own car instead of f'in up someone elses car later on down the road.

Anyways, does anyone know where I can find some 97-98 240sx headlights and corners? I really dont care what kind of corners because they will be pulled apart and painted black. But I do what to get a hold of some JDM Black Housing headlights for that year 240.
Thx,
Michael

Ken96z: 15k? try about double that. Hell my Diablo Doors are gonna run me about $1600. And then the 240sx headlights and corners are gonna run me about $500 new. So 15k is a little low. And as said before....this will all happen over the course of a few months to a couple of years...and yes I am unemployed right now. I cant really work right now anyways since Im still recovering from a fractured ankle. Ill be looking for a job by the end of the week tho.

The Pumpkin King: Yeah we all do have a wish list. but this list has nothing to do with my wish list. My wish list consists of a 92-95 Civic hatchback w/ a full Z24 makeover. LD9 motor/ Getreg 5sp. Full cavalier drivetrain, interior, headlights and taillights.

Thx,
Michael

if you want to do this for a career dont waste your time paying someone to do the work so you can learn
your unemployed get an apprenticeship at a body shop do the work yourself in your garage as you learn

Good Luck. And enjoy it. I'm enjoying doing my own work and learning as i go. I still have allot to go but I want to do this as a side job once I get good enough to do it. but keep to your guns and don't let ppl knock you for what you want to do.
