Hey fellaz,
Got a pair of X-1 fiberglass fenders for my J. Couple of questions, though...
First off, I know my color is Sunburst Orange Metallic, but the body guy needs the paint code...out of the 100 numbers on the spare tire cover, which one is the code?
Secondly, I need to know all the extra materials I'll need along with the paint. Sealer, clear coat, and what else? Also, how much paint should I request for a pair of fenders?
Thanks in advance!!!
NO...it's NOT a freakin' Honda!!!
if you giving it to a body guy, he should do all of that for you.
sounds like your doing it ghetto-style...DONT. you wont be happy with the work. go to a real shop.

I hear ya, but I'm away at school right now. My mom called me saying a new customer of hers is a body guy that is willing to extend his materials discount to her. Plan is, I give her the info over the phone to relay to him, and then she'll box up the materials and mail to me. Already have a dude up here who's done painting for a friend that owes me a favor, but he doesn't have a shop or anything...so he aint gonna do any mixing. I just need the materials list and where to find the paint code so I can get this deal goin' on!
Thx again.

The paint code is near the bottom of the spare tire cover, and will be a WA number, or it'll say BC/CC (Base Coat/Clear Coat)
I'd say (speaking dupont here)
1pint paint
1 pint reducer
1pint clear and ask a paint supplier how much activator for the clear... depending on the clear it'll either be mixed 4:1 or 3:1, and sometimes 5 or 10%reducer
and if they have it 1 pint of sealer and the proper amount of activator (ask an auto body supply store, depending on the sealer will also depend on the mix ratio)
and he should know what grits sandpaper he needs...
Fallen Angel,
Thx I found the code, paint should be getting mixed soon!
My body guy up here at school did my last Cavy (See Profile Car). I was very pleased with the results. Traded him a Kenwood deck for his free spraying services for these fenders. Can't wait to get 'em on!
Peace
