Qs for painters and body people

Hey,
I am going to be refinishing my whole body and aligning everything perfectly and all that.. i got few questions i have doubts about. Also, to let uou know, i will be doing all the body work and primer and let the pros shoot the paint.

1. there is some rust i found, now i know how to take care of it but i always had doubts on making sure it dont come back. I have primer and i got a sealer. Now, will a Sealer seal the area from rusting? cause isnt a sealer to make sure the paint dosent bleed and stuff.

2. I will be priming few areas at a time and i will be driving it in between. untill the whole car is primed.. will this be ok?

basicaly after i fix the rust i want to make sure the rust dosent come back, cause my buddy just primed the area where rust was and it came back after a week. through the primer.

Best bet for rust is to replace the whole panel or reweld on new metal sections.

As for primering only sections sure its fine, youll get the people who give you sh1t but who cares, they dont drive your car.

well i mean the rust is very little.. its like on top of the body in some areas..
the main thing is .. after i prime it ..normal primer will let the metal breath right.. so it can rust again?

right.. cause its the oxygen thats causing the rust..

if it is surface rust just sand it away and prime.

if its surface rust you can sand it down then prime over it so long as you prime it right away, you can also sand it down apply a self etch primer then your regular primer over it. course this id for surface rust, if you have a gaping hole well then you need to take more drastic measures like having a pro do it.

like he said if the panle is beyond repairing replace the panle
surface rust i would take a small sand blaster or 3m makes a plastic coated brasive disc that will remove the rust as well
self etching primer is a good idea behind the panle, ppg make a corosion resistant primer so no need for anything else under a product that has that ablity
the rust on your buddies car is coming back that fast it`s pretty simple it was a poor repair rust repaired correctly should never come back
could you say where the rust on the car is then i can help ya out more

can i haz bondo

^^ what he said. If it's very minor surface rust, you can also sand or grind it out totally. If you grind it out (if you don't have access to a blaster), it will cut into the metal a little, so use a glazing putty/ezsand/icing over the area, sand even... prime... and you should be fine driving around like that as long as you don't sand the primer until you're ready for paint.
