vinyl-like bra for hood 03+ cavalier.. more info?

i remember seeing a picture on here of someone's car that had this black looking vinyl stuff that went on the edge of the hood ... and it was some kind of "Bra" to protect against chips/stones/etc...

recently, i actually saw a cavalier with it, and it's got me interested. What's it called? Where can I find it? What's the price? How easy is it to put on/take off?

Thanks for the info guys! ( I would search, but I don't know what to search for, lol..)

It was probably mine - I posted some pics awhile back (also viewable by going to my CarDomain page, accesible from BlueCavCustoms.com)

It's a magnetic bra that "locks" onto your hood using a vinyl trim piece so that it can't be removed if the hood is down.

Easy to install, fairly inexpensive (I can make you one for around 40 bucks) BUT they are a PITA to maintain. Mine got bubbles in it and crud will wash down and get stuck behind it and leave lumps...you have to pull it off the car every time you wash it, wipe it clean and reinstall and you'll STILL get bubbles that won't go away.

i finally pulled mine off and tossed it in the garbage. I'd rather pay the rock chip guy to fix the occasional damage than ever deal with that nightmare again.

Hope I have talked you out of it! If you want one, hit my email and I'll make you a new one. I kept the trim piece in case anyone ever wanted it.

sounds like a regular hood bra to me. i had one on my car last year. it did do a good job protecting from rock chips but it also faded my paint and i had to take it off at least once a week to wash it because it would condense underneath it and dirt would get in it. i recommend to not get one. i'd rather deal with the rock chips.
