It CAN be... but I believe it is a little more difficult to mold urethane than fiberglass...

i say personally ya need to be experienced with plastic`s to mold plastic into plastic
if your talkin about taking plastic into the sheet metal it will not work that`s like mixing water with oil it`s not goin to happen
if the lip kit or body kit is the same material as the factory bumpers are then ya sure it can be done if the kit is a different plastic then the bumpers then you will have more of a problem tryin to get a product to stick
my suggestion to you is this use the 3m products for plastic repairing not fusor not duramix 3m
lightly grind the plastic down use a adheshion promotor first then apply the panel bond yes panel bond that stuff is amazing
at this time in the morning i can`t remeber the numbers for the products in the next step but anyway it`s not that hard with the knowledge and the right material it can be done one mroe thing when you work with panle bond or any plastic repairing material follow what the tube says and let the material dry that is key in any plastic repair

can i haz bondo

On that car is the rk sport side skirts which are urethane. So urethane into sheet metal, if it can't work, why is it done?

I THINK what he meant was (correct me if I'm wrong)

Basically, unless you're doing metal to metal, or fiberglass to fiberglass... the bond is never going to be 100% strong and indestructible. If your car is a daily driver, it's not going to stay, permanently that is.

Metal and urethane is two totally different materials, so a permanent bond is not likely... but unless it's not going to be driven daily, there shouldn't be problems.

Think like this... Say you have, a stick of butter and a stick of margarine, partially thawed. You can stick them together and put them in the fridge, and once they join they'll stay for a while. But if you take it out of the frige and beat it on the counter, it's going to split first where it was molded... as if you would have just left it in the fridge and only taken it out once in a while... then returned it... it would stay.

PA roads suck anyway... but if you mold it in and use it just as a show car... you should be fine. But if you take it out daily and have to drive it... you run more and more of a risk of it splitting... hitting possibly one of PA's many many potholes and other road hazzards.

It can be done... and it can hold up fairly well if it's taken care of... but when you get down to it... unless you're dealing with like materials, you can't get a permanent strong bond, or not a bond that is going to take up to a ton of abuse.

It can be done if you use the correct adhesives and proper techniques. I have the Xenon kit molded to my car.

I used fusor 147 to mold my urethane type j. Then a small Amount of filler to smooth it all out. it was on my car (daily driver) for about 3 months with no cracking or any other problems. But like unless you know what your doing, you can probably expect to be redoing it a few weeks down the road.
