I know the feeling. I'm mainly in img manip, exterior (but that you knew) and newbies. Occasionally, I'll check the other ones. I noticed that thread on the main page the other day and figured it was appropriate for this mbr's question...
Pretty much all side vents/hood vents are going to be plastic or fg. Even the ones on the new vets as mentioned in that thread are plastic. I have two different sets of fbody side vents, one set of hood vents, also plastic lol If a car comes with a steel vent, that that whole panel of the car would be one piece rather then the recessed lip with bolt in plastic vents as most companies do.
So yeah good luck finding steel weld on vents & unlike stated above you can search google but pretty much all you'll find is FG, CF, & ABS vents...
Show me on Andy's site universal Weld on/in metal vents/scoops. All I see there is cheesy fg grill inserts, & no universal section...
