ok so i have a 2004 cavalier and i wanna put a 2002 trunk deck on it....so i dont have to use that filler piece for my toyota tails.....how hard is it to shave the lock off the trunk .....what steps would i need to do to do it....thanks

Pop the lock cylinder out, weld a piece of 20 gauge steel (best option there) into the lock hole so its flush with the outside, sand the extra stuff off then paint the trunk lid.

for the whole lid? dont go through gm for it, check the classifieds or go to a junkyard

i wouldnt recommend welding on the trunk lid, the metal is very thin and u might warp the metal, i fusioned a piece of steel behind the hole and then fiberglassed it, came out great and it shouldnt crack if done right

if you know how to weld you wont warp the metal. my whole lid was shaved w/ metal fillers and it looks great. if shouldnt fiberglass over holes. over time and due to weather changing it will eventually crack out
