Headlight trouble
Saturday, March 18, 2006 12:33 PM
Last night i was driving and my driver's side headlight went out. Ok, no big deal. Today i go pick up a new bulb (they're 4500k) and put it in, turned on the lights to make sure it worked and it did. So, i started my car and drove home, only to realize the service engine light was still on.

When i got home, i checked and the bulb was out again. So i took my two o.e. bulbs and tried each of them and neither of them worked. So i'm assuming there must be something wrong with the wiring or something in just that headlight. I'm not very good with electrical work, and i was wondering if anyone else had this problem before and what the solution was. Thanks in advance.

first of all...correct me if i'm an idiot, but a bad bulb or associated wiring wouldnt cause the check engine light to come on, right? anyway, i guess i would suggest checkin out the plug for loose wires and check the wires themselves for any problems. i have a phantom electrical/bulb problem also...but its not that bad and i'm too lazy so.... good luck

If there is a headlight, the drl won't work and it sends a signal letting you know there is a headlight out. On my car (i don't know if it's the same for all the j-bodies) my service engine light comes on.

Lol, damn phantom electrical problems! Yeah, i guess i'll have to check everything.

Oh, and i fogot to write this earlier, i already checked the fuse, and it was fine.
