painting calipers and struts

I had this under brake and suspension, but, I think I'll get more replies here. I'm probably gonna attempt to get my drums and calipers painted this weekend, and I have a few questions for the pros.
1. Is the actual caliper paint that much better than just the engine enamel?
2. The best method to grind down all the numbers and make it all smooth as can be?
3. Is their a particularly good primer to use, or do I need primer at all?
4. How hard is it to just leave the caliper on and paint, and just take the drums off?
5. If I had a parrot and it talked, but it never said "I'm hungry," would it die?
6. Am I asking too many questions, cause I might think of something else?

I just want this to turn out right the first time. Too many people have half arse jobs around here and they look like brightly colored magic rusty calipers; don't care too much for that. Thanks in advance for the help.

1. Nope its no better at all. In fact you can use regular spray paint it holds up just as good.
2. Only if your planning to show it would I worry about this.
3. Any that says filler primer will help smooth it out so you don't have to sand.
4. Not hard at all in fact its the easiest way. The first time you hit the brakes any over spray is taken right off.
5. Only if you never fed it.
6. Nope go ahead.

Don't know why you'd have any issues I never have and I've been doing this useing regular old spray paint for about 20 years now.

I'm an idiot, I just noticed I put calipers and "struts." Sorry, I'm not retarded, but thanks for the help jackalope. I will be showing the car though, and my wheels are quite seethrough, so I think I'll have to grind and sand a bit too.
