Water Spots in Polished Valve Cover - Permanent?
Friday, June 23, 2006 7:31 AM
The V/C thats currently on my car is polished (trying to get my spare one powdercoated, see other thread) and it's covered with water spots like when glasses don't come out right in the dishwasher...

I've tried all kinds of different metal polishes and scrubbed as hard as I can but they don't budge. Looks like they are almost a layer BELOW the top...

Any way to get rid of these? I want to get my spare cover polished (current one has some scratches) if I end up not powdercoating it, but not if its just gonna look like junk in a month like this one.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks!

Steve

Well, thats because you left the cover unprotected. Easiest way i see is just to resand it it down and polish. HOWEVER, this time when you done, spray a few coates of clear coat as a protectant.

Edited for spelling mess up.

OK, Thanks! If I end up getting my spare polished, I'll make sure I get the body guys to do the clear coat before we put it all back together.

Steve the polish I have takes the water spots right off on mine. let me know if you need some. They only sell it locally so let me know.

Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.

Problem solved - I decided to get the cover painted and cleared.

Thanks!
