How did you fill in the handle and lock area? Did you buy custom made filler plates or did you make your own...? If you bought them, where can I buy em from. If you made them... make me some, i'll pay ya.

Thanks,
Scott

I just got done shaving my door locks off. i took a washer that was about the size i needed. then cut it out of paper to trace to the metal. then took the metal cut it out, shaped it in a grinder, and then welded it. only problem ya gotta be careful is from what i hear the metal on our cars can puff up easily if ya get it too hot. which is a good ? to ask everyone. anyone had any issues welding on such a thin car.?? but the actual process is easy and took me bout 20 minutes total.

Naw we didnt have any problems. To be honest our metal isnt all that thin. Try doing this on a scion. We did my friends xB and didnt even have any trouble and that is some thin metal there.

^ how about no. It would crack easily. Just make the templates, and take it to someone who has a welder. Give 'em a 12-pack and get it done right the first time.

the welding here takes time. its not difficult but if you rush it the door will pop in and cuz an even bigger dent to fix. Take you time, use metal templates (the thickness really doesnt matter 18-22 guage steel will work) and dont use too much fiberglass and bondo. You should never use more than a 1/4 " fiberglass or 1/8 " bondo. Otherwise make a better fitting template. And do the sanding by hand it makes it easier to tell when the doors arent flat.
