How ugly would this be?
Tuesday, October 24, 2006 6:50 AM
I was messing around in Photoshop with the idea that I might debadge and de-trim my car and apply a vinyl. Yes, I know the car needs a suspension drop -- that's in the plans. I was just wondering whether this looks sharp, tacky, or if I'm just completely off my rocker. The design is one I found on eBay that I sort of liked. The nice thing about Photoshop is that I don't have to screw up the car to see what works and what doesn't.

no graphics just lower it and proper size tires

I sort of figured the vinyl design wouldn't win any fans. It seemed like a neat idea because It was a bold look that I could afford, but unfortunately they tend to look cheap too. (I notice there aren't a lot of full-body vinyls on other members' cars. I probably should just take the hint.)

At the very least, I want to try and remove the side trim, but I'm a little worried about the paint behind it on a 10-year-old car. I can see brown discoloration along the top edge of the trim as it is. Suspension and tires aren't in the cards until at least next year. Anyways, thanks for the point-blank opinions.

word of advice, just because its cheap and you can afford it, doesnt make it the best thing for your car.

its all in what you like. most people on here dont like the vinyl on the sides. but if you like it go for it. how low do you want to go for your drop. im getting ready to put my air ride on my car and i have a set of eibach sportlines and koni reds that im going to be selling.

I was going to stick to something like a Pro-kit, but mainly because my projected budget only allowed for KYB AGXs at best. I'd love sportlines and konis, if I can throw the cash together.

I really like the graphic, it would look great on a kitted car.

With some tinted windows, a drop, and a kit that car would look perfect.

my opinion? it's your car, your money. you have to be seen in it. do what you want, and don't worry about everyone else.

Does anybody else find it strange to find the phrases "you have to be seen in it" and "don't worry about everyone else" so close together?

Honestly, if I didn't think dressing if up was going to impress somebody, I might as well leave it alone and keep on driving the stock 10-year-old hand-me-down budget car that it really is. Self-gratification only goes so far if you end up having to clean eggs off it each night.

The first thing on your list should be your suspension. Save the money from the purchase, and use the time you would to apply them to go do some work. Then apply that to your suspension fund.

What would I do? I'd rip off those stuck on vents and whatever is stuck on above your side molding and call it a day. Save up for a lowering. Your car would like 100000000 times better with a 2" drop and no stickers.

I dont have anything against vinyl graphix, but IMHO dragons should be left on imports.

Yeah, I hand't really considered that the dragon has more of an association with imports. Good point.

From what ive seen with dragon vinyls is nothing but bad. but then again those were mostly on civics. personally i agree with spork2021 just make it clean for now and if you wanna go with some graphics later think them over thoroughly before you stick it on but id stay away from cheap import themed grapihcs.

Because usually dragons are associated with the Aisan tradition. And since that's where most foreign cars done from..... well you see my point.
