Inner quarter panel rust protection?

Alright, ill be repairing my rear quarter panels this winter due to rust.. now i would like to put some rust prevention on it.. i was thinking of POR15... put it on the unibody and also put it on the back of the 1/4 panel.. now my concern is when im spot welding the 1/4 panel on.. im worried about the rust protection catching fire.. is this something i need to worry about? i mean itll only be spot welds yes but welding puts out alot of heat with sparks as well..

If thats not possible, anyone have any solutions on what i can do..

Put your rust protection on after you weld the quarter panel. Any wich way think about it like this. A weld has 2 sides. The front and the back. You grind down the front but you still have to clean the back and put some rust protection on it.

So after you are done with your welding take a red scratch pad to the back of every weld and then use some acid etch primer to keep it from rusting. You can buy this type of paint in a can. And of course use a grinder and a wire brush to clean up the front welds before you do body work on it or it will rust from under the body work.

And then if you want to go a step further use the por-15. Every step you take after making a weld on a car to prevent rust is better than nothing. It is amazing how fast rust can appear.

Don't forget your weld-thru primer as well that will help the metal. Its a pain when welding but it is that extra protection. Finish all your welds, do any necessary bodywork and seam-seal all the seams. Then do your etch/wash primer, primer, sealer, paint or rubberized undercoating.

correct
also make sure that both side of the metal are ground down real good and has clean metal, dirty metal gives bad weld bad weld gives bad bond
weld through primer is the correct product to use, when you apply it and the panle is on ready to weld, i take a small screw driver to the hole to remove the primer then i weld
so weld through primer is the wat to go for corrosion protection

can i haz bondo
