Well I just got my SS hood and my latch does not line up. So im just going to use hood pins. My question is does anyone have a picture of where they mounted there hood pins? Im not sure if i want them far away or close together? also any tips on drilling threw fiber glass would help. Thanks.
Not sure on placement of the pins, but I know one thing for sure. When you go to drill the holes, make sure you have enough blue painters tape, or green 3m masking tape covering the hood where you are going to drill....this will save you lots of frustration and more painting later. Sorry I couldnt help with the placement.
most people put them where the rubber bumo stops are
and its "through"
and i would find out why the latch doesnt line up

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
i dont see why the latch doesnt match up but ok. anyway open your hood and there are 4 bump stops up front. one by each fender and 2 in the middle by the headlights. use which ever 2 you want.
I don't know why the latch will not go down? it looks lined up but will not push down? I tried pushing and slaming it but it wont work? Oh well hod pins will be fine. thanks
Yeah, how do you put hood pins where the black bumperstops are?
Not being a smart ass; i just dont know; i have a cf hood and have ran it on my car for 6 months in the spring and summer without hood pins, but people tell me i really should have pins in her as well, and i would feel more comfortable.
But i would reccomend getting your oem latch checked out and having your hood held down by the latch and the pins; just the pins is kind of unsafe.
Good luck man.
When drilling through cf, same thing use tape over the exterior of the hood and underside?

yeah all sum a hole has to do is walk by your car n pul lthe pins out n u be drivin down the road n have a hood in your windshield get the latch fixed and use the hood pins together that way u won't have to worrie about replacing a windshield
^^ hes correct.. Hood pins arent really made to use by themselves.. people do.. but there more used for anchor points to help the stock latch distribute the force put on the latch into 2 more points.. You really want to figure out whats wrong with ur latch.. Where did u get the hood from? U might just need to play with the latch a lil.. move it slightly to the side a little bit or something
are thefre two different style hood pins?
like i heard there was a kind to stay away from that can rust and you cant get your hood open, anyone hear of this?

Your right about somebody pulling out the pins! I just finished putting an 89 Z24 hood on my 94 convertible. I figured easier just installing the hood pins than changing latches. Got a couple of small locks & put clear vinyl over the chrome rings........no problems yet! Marty
yeah pins are definately extra security but the latch really is the central mount and anchor point for the hood

I used hood pins for like 9 months on my car after the hood flew up. Then I picked up another hood for $50 and ditched the pins!

you removed the bumpstop and put the pin in there. the pins come w/ washers and nuts. put a nut and washer on and then put the pin through the hole then add the other washer and nut then you can adjust the height of the pin and tighten it where you need to.

Thanks, so what happens with the bumper stops?
And are you useing the inner bumper stops sp that the pins would be in the middle of the hood, or the outer ones so that the pins would be abover the headlights?

Thanks guys for all the advice.. But I was going to do the pins so i took out the rubber stops, but they screw in to a square with no possibly way to put the nut on under it? So I used some WD-40 on my latch and it worked:-)
