Just thought I would see what you guys have to say. I noticed there have been alot of threads on Silver stars and others screaming PIAA. I have spent close to $300 over the past year on bulbs in my cavi trying different ones because the '00-'02 seems to have junk lights, they don't seem to be focused as well as others. I bought a set of PIAA extreme whites and tried them, noticed no difference from the Blue vision bulbs that they replace. My next step was Jetco 80/100 bulbs. Not any better then stock. So I stepped up to Optilux Xenon White XBs(80/100W again but, very blue tint to them) Not bad on dry roads but once it got wet, well, there was NO visibility from about 6 feet past the bumper. I hit a moose the next night because of them damn lights. I then went to my current Hella Xenon Whites and upgraded(see replaced) my headlight wiring. The headlights are alot better now but still aren't focused, hi beams are kind of like a flood light, not good for distance. I put a set of H7 silver stars into my dad's Kia Magentis, they started out in the low beams but seeing as the stock bulbs were fine in the projectors I moved them to the hi-beams and thought the distance isn't any greater, they are noticeably whiter and illuminate the road ahead better, you aren't straining to see as much. Have also installed the Optilux XBs in a '95 Ram van and had no problems, they work great in heavy snow and any other weather, again that brings me back to the cavi's garbage lights. Ran Silver stars in my caravan as well. The biggest waste of money was the PIAAs that are in my '86 Ram, they are the H4 GTX's, the low beams aren't bad but the Hi beam is too blue and you lose a bit of visibility. In all I would highly recommend upgrading the wiring and running relays in they system to gain the full potential of any headlight. My next step is to figure out how to mold the large rectangular H4 lenses into the cavi as those seem to have the best beam pattern of any conventional headlights. Feel free to add your experiences, comments etc. or flame, whatever, its up to you.
