Ok so i have a 03 cavalier with victory red paint i wanna get an older trunk, prior 03 cuz i hate that bezel are the reds from prior years the exact same color red as my 03? or will i have to repaint?
Probably won't match. Colors with long production runs typically have many different variances or "shades". It should be close, but probably won't match exactly. It's up to you whether or not you can live with the possible color difference and how noticable it is.

ok, im done being an a-hole to you, so please dont take this the wrong way, i dont mean it to sound bad against you.
explain to me why u couldnt have just said that to me? i would have understood and respected you a HELL of a lot more if you would have just told me that. it makes a lot of sense, and it helps me understand the whole "paint matching" better.
imo man... i think you should just get a new one painted, yours is an 03, so it should have minimal fading to the paint, if any at all.
so if you just paint a different trunk lid, it should look awesome and match great.

In my very first post to you (referenced here
My first response to your post ) I said the following (I'm not trying to be a bitch here, just letting you know):
Quote:
1. White is a biotch to match... you wouldn't think so, but I'd bet there are literally HUNDREDS of whites out there... and yes it does stain and fade... so if you JUST paint the bumpers/sides/whatever... you WILL notice it. An option to fix this without painting the WHOLE car would be to have the shop blend it... however... with that amount of blending you might as well just paint the whole car so it looks decent.
While I didn't directly mention in that post the "variances" specifically, I did mention the fact that there are hundreds of whites out there, and I even mentioned in my sticky at the top of the forum about "variances". If you'd read that, you'd known about that anyway.
Either way, it doesn't matter... paint that's almost 9 years old is going to be faded pretty bad, and won't match anyway, therefore mentioning the variances really didn't apply as much to your situation as it does here.

Now, had you not acted like a total jackarse to me, and simply asked for further clarification, I would most likely have clarified things for you in some more detail so you understood better. However, you did choose instead to get ignorant with me, call me names, insult me, and even go so far as to say "id rather her go make me some bacon n eggs than give me advise on a car. a woman should know her place, and it's certainly not behind the wheel", with absolutely no apology for your ignorant statements whatsoever. Ever hear anyone say "you catch more flies with sugar/honey than you do with vinegar"?
If you want good advice, respect those with the knowledge and don't insult them or ignore them when they're trying to help you... you'll get better results that way, especially when it comes to exterior related things... there are far fewer auto body/paint experts on here than there are mechanical people.
ok, thanks for the explanation. sorry for being a di<khead before.

amen to that!!!
get the deck lid, and blend the 1/4`s or if the painter is good he may come close to matching but it wont be on the money
so thats why we blend the next panle to achieve the match
thats what i would do
can i haz bondo
