There are alot of wraps out now days, for graphics or advertisement. Do you think these will take the place of painting in the future? You know, one week you could have a blue car, the next a black, then white and so on and so on? First, the price would have to come down, but just a thought of the futture?

sure do think its a good thing, as far as take place of painting, not too sure. I'll be doing wraps in the future but for now im sticking with vinyl decals, hell im only 19 so maybe when im 25 ill get into this aspect of it. The price of wraps is so high because it takes alot of time to apply it without bubbling and plus the machines that are making these wraps are at least $14,000 and they use ink such as a printer and its alittle pricey as well.
Price and ease of install would need to be a significant improvment

I don't see the average person or show car using a wrap in place of paint. With a wrap there is always some imperfection, no matter how good the installation, and with a show car, imperfections are not something you want.
If the price came down dramatically (which I doubt it will)... then the average joe might opt in for it, but like I said... I doubt it will.

if id got my car wrapped it would just be to protect it for a long drive(after it was done that is, right now i coulda care less).. and prolly would really only get like the front end done.. but.. i can go and buy blue masking tape and still be plenty cheap then wrapping.. so as of now it has no interest to me.
i did like how they used it on HorsePower TV. i think its good for derby and track cars, cuz if they get slight damage, its easy to get that section reprinted and look good again
a shop i use to go to had a project crx that was completely wrapped instead of painted. it looked very good and smooth just like paint. only thing i would be worried about is the wrap fadding

Fading on vinyls depends on how good the media they used is, theres differant life spans on fading and cracking, usually at least 4 years though from what ive seen.
$14000? There are companies (in So Calif) that will pay you $500 to wrap your car with their advertisement. Also, I see a lot of catering companies and landscape companies having their vans and trucks done. So hard for me to believe that is the going rate.
