EXPERIENCE WITH GMPARTSDIRECT.COM?
Thursday, February 08, 2007 2:40 AM
What reputation does gmpartsdirect.com carry? I want to buy a lip kit for my 2000 Cav Sedan, and the prices are significantly lower than the dealer, but I am unsure of thier ordering / shipping process. I already tried the search button. Thank you for any help.

I have had some business with them and have had no problems yet. Yes, you can save some money also.

I've ordered 3 parts from there & didn't have a problem. Make sure before you decide that's where you're ordering from that you run a total through with shipping because their shipping charges are a bit high. Even so, it'll probably still save you some money. I've heard some people say they'd rather spend the few bucks extra and get the part immediately from a dealership. Just check your options

@!#$ gmpartsdirect. i will never ever order a single part from them. their policys suck. i ordered a bunch of stuff for my suspension so i can return it to stock. roughly $100 in parts and after i order it, then they decide to tell me that one of the parts is on back order, oh and they also tell you once you place an order you cant cancel it or return the items. you would think if they didnt have an item instock they would list it on their site.

I actually just bought four things from them. I got my parts in about a week and a half and everything was safe in the box. I definitely recommend them, based on my experience.

Maybe I'm not reading the emphasis right, but they don't hide that you can't cancel or return items. It's right on the site.

On average your order will ship out in 7-10 business days. In some cases it may take longer due to back-ordered, special-ordered or unavailable parts. Please note you are notified in site policies of approximate shipping times "For gmpartsdirect.com to keep prices low and to service all customers as quick as possible, orders cannot be cancelled for any reason. Please make sure your part numbers are correct before placing your order."

Also, to avoid ordering something on backorder, maybe try contacting customer support first.

Just enter a valid GM part number in the space provided on our home page. You can find fast moving part numbers in our special featured section on our homepage. Due to the huge size and complexity we do not have a full catalog for all GM parts online. If you cannot find the part number you need please email us through customer service with the make, model, year, VIN and a good description of the parts you need. There is a link to customer service on the bottom of our homepage.

I'm only taking a wild guess here, but if they can look up parts not listed, they can probably look up if parts they do have are in-stock.

i understand its not hiden and i didnt have a problem with that because i need the parts so why am i going to cancel my order right? my problem is if they dont have something in stock and ready to ship, why are they going to collect all these orders for them, or they should atleast let you be aware that they dont have any in stock at the time. i know the part numbers for all my parts and i find exactly what i was looking for. i ordered the quantity that i needed and checked out. paid for it and then after you pay for it as usual you get a notification of when your items will ship. thats when they tell you its on back order. to me thats a little ridicious.

why should i have to contact their customer service when it seems to me that this part is ready to ship?

I have had nothing but positive experinces with them.
I've ordered
Getrag metal casing plug for my TG LSD insert install
New headlamp assembly for my step sisters buick
Bleeder screw for my cooling system,
Clutch master cylinder for clutch install

and I plan on ordering my 2k toyota fenders through them since I now have part numbers for them.

I order from them off and on, so far about $1g worth... the only bad thing I can say is the second to last time I ordered, they used shredded invoices as filler. My cats enjoyed the box . I didn't like the mess though.....

From what i know, gmpartsdirect is just a parts department at a dealership in winston-salem NC (Flow Chevrolet). Most of their products are priced at about 10-12% over GM cost. What they lose in markup, they make up for in shipping charges.

Correct. Its mentioned as part of the checkout that Flow Chev is the biller.

All of my CC statements, the invoice in the box, the pull tags on the parts, and the shipping addy has been Flow Chev.

Haha, I got a box full of shredded invoices two days ago as well. My cats were all over it.. nothin' like seeing a 20lbs cat jump into a box half his width.

Sweet times huh...seeing your cat in a box meant for something about 10 pound lighter!! My cat is the same....17 pounder and thinks every box is his!!! LOL!!

Ordered several things from them and I'm overseas and never had a problem...usually receive items in 7 - 10 days!

Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?

Lol, cats are definitely a good source of entertainment.

7-10 days overseas? Wow, nice!
