How much is too much?

I just bought VHT Niteshades and i want to know if anyone could tell me how many coats of niteshades i would need to put on my tails to get a nice dark look but still have a good amount of light in the sunshine. Also how many coats of clear would you suggest?

I should also mention that the smiles were masked off, then removed and sprayed with the last 2 coats. That should give you an idea as to how light the layers are.

i did 3 heavy coats of nightshades, than 4 coats of clear, then wetsanded, then 2 more coats of clear and waxed the hell out of them.

just finished mine today. ill do the 3rd brake light this weekend when i dont have to drive the car.

and ive heard sumthing bout niteshades showing up red or purple when put on clear corners or bumper lenses or something.. but on my tails for reverse lights i had no problem. just not at bright but i got some leds thatll fix that.

o yeah, mine are 2 heavy coats of niteshades, wetsanded with 2000 then 3 coats of clear. ill get better pics later i dont feel like moving the car right now lol

The reason why mine have 6 layers was the prevent any running or puddling that heavy layers cause. Light layers are easier to handle.

wow, manta... yours came out much better than mine did. im going to take a crack at doing another set and have them professionally cleared this spring.

and as for having no purple reverse lights... VERY good, ive always wondered about that and didnt want to lose my back up lights, VERY awesome news there!
maybe the bumper lenses are just retarded in that way or something, cuz mine were very purple!
