would this welder be enough for my lil project? about to shave door handles, gas door, and make evil eyes. or do i need to go up on the amps? its' been about five years since i last welded anything and that was all stick welding. i briefly used a mig and tig welder when i was in the navy. of course, i have practice pieces to play with. i have an old hood that i'm gonna cut up on for the handles, evil eyes, and the gas door. preciate the help!!

oh, i put this here cause it has to do with exterior mods. lol

everything looks good except it doesnt have gas. Gas makes it alot nicer especially when doing bodywork. Dont get me wrong it will work with flux core but gas makes for a cleaner weld and helps keep te heat down..phil

that looks almost identicle to the one i bought. had a gift card and figured id give it a shot, but that thing is terrible. we tried one shot at welding the handles shut with it and we ended up having to get a good welder. it worked wirth a crap!!! the thing i learned was if it dont use gas, its prolly no good.

thats just my experience

You can go to home depot or lowes and pick up a Lincoln for around 3-400 bucks best investment you'll make... don't skimp out when it comes to life decisions well you won't be welding anything that will be that serious but i bought mine for the full air bag set up on my s10 worked great for me...

don't weld without gas the gas helps get good penetration all tho the metal is thin but it helps keep the weld clean from contamination... ur weld could come out @!#$ty and have porosity also

you can get away with not using gas if you use a flux cored wire... but it's not as good.

i have a miller 135 (with gas). works like a champ. i havn't gotten any shielding gas for it yet, so i stick to flux cored wire for now. i'll get some argon/co2 gas eventually.

basically, miller and lincoln are the two brands to look at. don't cheap out. i prefer miller, but lincoln isn't bad. 110-120v welders are fine for working on cars, cause they basically weld anything up to 3/16th inch thick metal (lincoln's specs say 5/16th inch), which is more than enough for any car body work. hell, just looking at the specs on that welder, it only goes up to 1/8th thick metal... garbage.
