basics...

( im not a smart guy, but here's what i'd do, just the obvious)

check:

Wiring
Wiring harness(es)
Relays
Fuses
Switches
Voltage (To lights)
Amperage (to Lights)
Try new bulb ( im assuming HID takes bulbs, because i dont even know what HID stands for) (I'm a bit outdated)

thats what I would check forst, but i also assume you have allready checked (most of) those.

good luck with your problem, and they lok very cool.

i had water in the connector from the factory harness into the harness with goes into the ballast, dumped out the water, cleaned the connections, worked like new.

it could be the bulbs i kinda had a problem like that where they lit up fine and stayed like that for little bit then they started to fade and look yellowish and they where 8k bulbs just to let u know. i bought new bulbs and so far havent had a prolem with them yet, they work great.

do you need new headlight units for HID, or can you just replace bulbs?

Or do i need to buy a kit

(if i do, ill look around...there's a northern motorsport by my house...but their prices are CRAZY!!)

HID's are great and no you don't need NEW HEADLIGHT UNITS for the HIDs up to you if you want to get projectors or not. When you buy them you get a box with 2 bulbs wires and connectors along with basilisks

5 seconds to find another street...

Here's my experience with HIDs: McCulloch 9007 (8000k and 6000k color temps)

The ballast is 95% of the time the culprit. Swap out the bulbs to that ballast and that will be the tell tale. Although they are supposed to be waterproof (the ballast), they don't like a lot of water or heavy down pours. I lost two ballast this way but they were under warranty. (Had them mounted behind the headlights and they got pretty soaked in a HEAVY down pour). Got em replaced no problem. 3 years later, still running strong and here's what i did: Covered the ballast with 2 sandwich bags and wrapped the bags with electrical tape leaving a lil opening. I mounted the ballast behind the headlights in the same spot with the opening to the bottom so IF any water did get in there it would drain out. No problems ever since and i can drive in heavy rain without any worries. Just in case tho, i keep halogen bulbs in the HID cases in my center console so i can swap one out if necessary.

If you want to change the color temperture of the bulbs, ordering the bulbs by themselves is the easiest, cheapest way. BUT, if the ballast is bad and not under warranty, it's almost worth while to order an entire new set (new kit) because the ballast is more expensive than the bulbs.

ima switch the bulbs soon and see what happens....i have also found that when the car is running it WILL NOT go out...most of the time when the car is not running it does though

...i did notice another wierd thing the other day...when i was driving home i flipped the lights on, and realized the radio got REALLY fuzzy on most stations, but not all...i have done it a few times everyday since then and it def caused hardcore static, i havent pulled my headunit to see if my antenna is loose or not...hopefully thats it....

any other ideas???

Without starting up the car and firing the HIDs up, mine flicker and sometimes don't fully come on at all.....need the juice flowing so they can ignite properly
