HID Installation

Hey guys I have a 2002 Cavalier coupe and its just the base model and I ordered an 10000K low-beam only HID kit off the internet and got it in the mail earlier today. The installation manual was all plug and play but when I plugged everything in as the manual said, nothing worked, the ballast wouldn't come on and the bulbs wouldn't come on of course from no power from the ballast. I have a friend who has a Cavalier that is that same year and model as mine and he has HIDs in his car but he said there is something about 3 different harnesses under the driver's side dash and under the steering wheel where you find the daytime running light wire and wire it up some way or something of the sort, but since he isn't around lately and is busy, he can't help me out. Now what I did was, instead of using all of the plug and play sort of installation and since the plug and play deal didn't work, I spliced the ground wire coming out of the ballast and grounded it to the frame and then the ballast and bulbs came on (which are extremely bright I might add), BUT the only problem is that it has CONSTANT power without the headlights switch even being on. I was wondering how do I hook it up to the headlight switch so it works as it is supposed to. I can't figure it out what wires hook up to what and it is all just a bunch of confusion to me. But after I got the ballast and bulbs to power on, I was glad that I knew those worked. But then it got dark outside and I couldn't see what I was doing so I called it a day and took out the whole HID kit and tried to put the existing halogen stock bulbs back in and now here is where ANOTHER problem occurs. I start my car, turn on the headlights and the passenger side headlight is out and only the driver's side headlight barely works and the orange service light with the wrench icon turns on in the dash lights. Can anyone help me out with this problem? It is nothing but confusion and a big hassle for me, especially since I'm doing this by myself. Any help or suggestions are GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

what kind of kit is it? Make sure all wires make sense, could be fuses, weak points, as well make sure u disabled DRLs, they like to burn ballasts out
