2000 sunfire se manual
its not whats under the hood, its how you use it
2200 soon to be turbo
the sensor is on the back part of the trans, look in behind the drivers side tire. there may be some pics if you search.
I have the same problem in my 04 cavalier. I talked to a mechanic at the chevy dealer and he quoted me around $40 for the part and of course didn't bother to mention how much labor would be. So I figure Autozone should be about $20 cheaper and I can DIY it if we ever get a warm and or dry day.
yeah its only one nut that holds in in their, very easy to change.. just turn the drivers side wheel to the left or take it off and reach in and remove it. just unplug the wire and slip a socket on over it or wrench.
I have a new one for a 98, but don't know if it will work on 2000 or newer

Since everything else seems just about swapable I would think it's the same part, but i'd have to cross reference it somewhere to find out for sure....that is unless someone knows...?
according to the gm site their different, the pre 2000 switch is like half the price of the 2000 up switch. they have the same setup but there arent interchangable.

Why am I not surprised....thank you for the info though.
do it yourself, did it on mine at like 45,000 miles, new ones in and no problems, took me all of 5 minutes. i paid $32 for the part
Thanks for the info, i will have to check it out to see if its loose or something and if not, then i will have to go pick one up.
