I was at a local body shop getting an estimate on getting some of my stuff painted for my car. I am looking at getting my front bumper and wings west lip, Wings west sideskirts, 03LS Sport rear bumper, 00-02Z24 spoiler all repainted indigo blue, re install the parts, Re clear my Carbon fiber hood, and fix a few bubbles which they said is filler that is seperating under the gas door.
$350-400 For painting the bumpers and skirts
$220 for Clearing the hood
$300 for fixing the quater panel
$100 for doing the spoiler
??? for un installing and reinstalling the parts???
I figure after it's done I am looking at close to $1200. Does this sound about right or is this a lil on the high side?

Depending on the paint and their quailty sounds about right. those are some good prices. honestly if you want cheaper. get a buddy with a body shop.
you get what you pay for. ive only heard a few times where body work is too high, otherwise, the quality is a lot reflected in the price.
You got some good prices there. Prices will be going up everywhere pretty soon since material is getting to be so expensive and shops just can't eat the price anymore. I would go for it.
those are some really good prices.... to get my qrtr fixed and rear bumper re-painted the local shops all want around 1,000..... and the qrtr panel is not damaged very much... labor rates are crazy around here though...
Yeah, I was just curious as to what it would be. I will be getting into schooling for autobody this summer and could just do a temp job until I would be able to tackle it myself.

Im not saying you wont learn but you might do more harm then good attempting to fix it then having to take that all back out to fix it right again.
I would still let the body shop do the quater panel repair, I would just do the finishing of the bumpers and lip and sides.

wow i got to get in the body and paint buisness. not saying there bad prices cause i don't have a clue. but i have a basic idea on material. but like some one said shop around see if you have a buddy that knows somebody. a friend at work had his civic hatch painted by a guy and is paying a round 1000-1200 for the whole car. guy even rewelded acouple of his patch panels so they wouldn't crack and seem like he didn't want anything extra. he's gonna give some extra tho. i haven't see it yet but i heard he's done some top notch paint jobs. so yeah don't stop after one do some research.
I guess I'm just going to do it in steps, First the hood, then do the kit and bumpers and spoiler. then later down the road do the quater panel.

What clear are they using? It shouldn't cost that much for just the hood unless they are using a really nice clear. I work at a body shop and something like that would only cost about $150 since there is not much to be done for the prep and dissemble. Most shops will just mask it off and leave it on the car. It's just surprising to me that they would charge $220 for clearing the hood when fixing the quarter panel requires body work, primer, base, clear and they have to blend it, for just $300.

I think that all of their products are PPG or something like that I believe. They said that this is the first carbon fiber hood that they have ever messed with so I dunno.

its times like this im glad my buddy paints
Oh and all the stuff has a lifetime warranty on the paint and clear for whatever they touch.

Larry make sure they blend the paint with the rest of the car...otherwise sometimes you can tell a big difference b/w new paint and old paint...You dont want shiny new bumpers and the rest of your car looking dull.
I know a guy that will do it for $300 but you have to wet sand it and prep it yourself... It's worth having a real pro do the whole thing that way if there's a problem you have someone to hold accountable.

If you weren't so far from WA then I'd say just bring it to my shop. We are a preferred shop

save yourself some $ and install everything yourself. I learned that after I spent big money having my shop disassembling and reassembling everything.
That sounds like a good estimate. Just remember, you do get what you pay for, and before attempting anything yourself, check with the shop doing the work first.
Thats not bad for just paint......i paid 3500 to get my whole car done, that was for hood, side skirts, front and rear bumpers, mirrors. This all included all the custom work needed to glass the rear, front, and sides in properly.....
thats cheap, ya gotta figure in labor rates, cost of material, example where i work body labor is up to 65, and paint is up to 55,
dont skimp out and try to do this your self, you will be sorry in the long run with out no experience
can i haz bondo
