this is my fiero, the hood and roof is flaking, i think its the clear coat chipping off and the paint is very faded , what is the easiest way to sand it down and get it ready for paint. im not looking for a professional job, i just want to sand it down and spray paint it the same color as the rest of the car, which is not bad (paint). i just dont want to see the lines where the clear coat chipped off.
DA with 220, wet sand with 400, seal and shoot. Would be the cheapest way to go about it. Only problem is the parts are fiberglass and if you go through the gel coat and dont use primer (good primer, not rattle can) the paint will shrink and you will see where the break-through spots are.

jesus!!! 220 wont even touch that, and i dont think a fiero is fiberglass, i believe its smc or a composite plastic
becasue it is not metal using a D.A. is the only way, 120/180/ use a high build corrosion resistant primer like ppgs ncp 271, doing what you want to do it will not last it will not stick its will look owrse the nwhat it does now
do it right the first time and never have to worry about it again
can i haz bondo
^^
what he said
but I use BASF's DP26 on stuff like that....... expensive but worth it
after the primer cures block it out using 400....... paint and clear
BASF and Glasurit FTMFW!!!!! but yeah. what they said. accept block the hood out when your done and then clean her up really good with some wax and grease remover and then seal, base, clear, and your golden.
220 would work but defiantly would take a lot longer. Block it down with 150 primer it, wet sand with 400 and then go on to paint procedures.

220 dry would work. I use 320 dry to feather stuff out all the time at my shop. I don't recommend it but it works
