I guess im an idiot when it comes to removing this, because i can't seem to get it! I swapped out my trunk for one at the yard because of defects on mine and now i cant seem to get the lock out of the old one. I've been tinkering with it for about an hour, but still no luck. anybody know how to properly do it? If this is in the wrong section then my bad!

i take it you mean sunfire?....u gotta knock the center of each rivet out, then drill out the rivets then re-bolt it or rivet the one u want to use in

^^^^^ huh? on mine there was a little clip holding it to the inside of the trunk. I swapped my lock when I did the cavalier trunk swap, there should be a little clip on the inside of the trunk, pry it upwards, and the lock pushes out. on sunfires, you need to take off the speed nuts that hold the taillight bezel to the trunk. Hope this helps, but don't quote me as some could be different from others.

This only applies to Sunfire Sedans. The Coupes need to be removed just how Gary said.

Yeah, I figured they'd be different as I have little experience with sunfire coupes, mostly cavs and my 4 door sunfire.

Glad you figured it out, though.

so would a Cavalier coupe be the same as the 4drs as well? I got an awesome deal on a trunk lid/wing and I need to know how to pop the lock out

Cavalier Coupes, Cavalier Sedans and Sunfire Sedans are the same. The only odd ones out are the Sunfire Coupes.

Right, I rock a shaved sedan lid on my 96 coupe. Didn't want to molest my perfect stock lid
