ok, so. i have a base model. no foglights. i just bought a Z24 bumper with the foglight holes for my car.
i was wondering [because im going with an aftermarket kit, and not stock] if i could buy the stock style foglight switch with dimmer switch, install that, and then wire up my afterarket foglights to a stock GM fog switch and not have to install a ghetto switch that would have came with the foglight switch. any help please??? also. i would MAYBE to make it look stock switch to stock foglight housings and such....but that shoulnd be too hard and no questions on that. just the use of stock parts and wiring!!! thanks guys!!! i hope this makes sence to someone!!!! its 530 am and im tired as hell!
i used the first diagram on here to wire mine up:

The stock switch has a black(ground) & 2 yellow wires. i think i wired the bottom yellow to pin 85 on the relay and the top one to ign (cant remember)
but anyway you asked if it was possible to use it and the answer is yes

nice!!! but, i dont wanna like run them the exact way stock would work.
i just wanna use the stock style switch as an on and off, no matter when.
like when lights are off completely, regular low beams, or highs. just like those generic
switches can. so like idk about that diagram that shows how to hook them with the headlights
and the pins in the sockets and everything.
is there just a way [like an add-a-fuse] that i can just get power to the button to switch on and off, and then just run pos and neg to that.
to just turn on?? the easyer to wire the better!!!
You said you were going with an aftermarket kit, so run the aftermarket wiring and then match up the wiring with the stock switch in place of the provided one. The 95-99 switch is a typical rocker switch whereas the 00-05 goes through the BCM, thus why you need 95-99.
I wired mine to the igniton so I can never leave them on by mistake but either way it worked with my Hella 1300's.
dang! so the 2000 style one will not work without the BCM???
crap! i wanted to put in the new style!
anyone have a pic on of the swtich for 99?
and one of the 2000 style?
...i wanna see whut the diff is in looks exactly!
They look exactly the same, I know because I grabbed one out of an '02 Z24 before I noticed the rocker switch didn't flip back and forth. It took me a while to find the one I've got out of a '98 Z24 but it all depends on the junkyards you go to. Just remember to leave yourself plenty of wiring after the plug on the switch.
this is from the link i posted

im assuming it'll work, but its up to you
yes you can use the factory 95-99 foglight switch to controll the foglights whenever you want. wether the headlights or on or off. i did it in my old sedan and am going to do it in my new 02 when i can get ahold of a switch. theres 3 wires that go to the back of the switch. a ground, and 2 positives. one positive is in the other is out. you HAVE to use a relay to controll the foglights. connecting them streight to the switch will burn it up. so use the wiring diagram as directed above but use the stock switch in place of the one they show. its REALLY not that hard.
