CF OEM fenders have been available for a while. Nopi has them for the 95-99 on sale right now for $99 a pair. You can get carbon fiber over fiberglass, or carbon fiber over metal.

The ones I had were for a 95-99... I just trimmed the corner marker light bracket off and Voila!

Cody which brand fenders and hood did you have? Did the carbon match?

next step. cf doors and body kit.

Heres your body kit.......

Only CF doors I know of are covered in black gelcoat and dont show the weave. Oh yeah, and they arent street legal and only fit lexan 'glass' (or sweet NASCAR netting - your call)

no matter how many cars i have seen with cf fenders, i have never seen it tied in very well with the rest of the car. unless you did cf doors, roof, covered the rear fenders of the car with cf, you would have to cover it all.

I don't remember the brand... I wanna say Aerogear or carbon creations but I am not certain.

The CF did match, but the gel coating was @!#$. If it was in the sun for more than 4-5 hours it would begin to haze. I spent waaay to much time polishing the hood and the fenders to get rid of that since no body shop would clear coat them for me.

It really wouldn't matter if they didn't 'match' the rest of the car if you're worried about weight savings and keeping the Cavy as light in weight as possible.

Cody, how much lighter were the fenders in comparison to the stockers and what about the fit and finish when it came to installation?
Nice looking fenders though and yeah, I've been eyeing these for some time now in my weight reduction process for the 'blu.
I could care less about the overall appearance and how they match anything as the ultimate statement of all this is reducing as much weight as possible while still having a presentable car for car shows.

Stock fenders are pretty light and flimsy to begin with so the cost really doesn't make C/F fenders too appealing

and for the weight saving... they are CF over fiberglass. id love to see someone compare the weight of a stock fender vs the fg/cf fenders. probably not saving much at all.

That being the case, I'd rather not bother then.
I don't know why they don't make a pure carbon fiber fender for the ultimate in weight savings per fender.
Oh well.

its pretty simple, its cheaper and easier to wrap fg than it is to create a reverse mold of the fender, then to vacuum bag it to make an inside replica. way too much time and money for them to invest.

there was roughly 3-4 lbs in weight difference....

Lets just put it this way, I spent the $350 and bought the toyos after I had the C/F ones because thats how much they sucked. Too bad I never got em on my car...

Save your money guys, they aren't worth the hassle.

my VIS hood is fiberglass with CF laid over it and its quite a bit lighter than the stock hood...

personally, i would buy a set IF they were FULL carbon and just paint over them.
