I have heard alot about the DDM HID kits that everyone seems to love, but as the other post on this forum shows, they no longer carry the normal kits. I searched and couldn't find anything about anyone using Raptors on a Jbody, just a post about someone using it on a truck in other cars forum, Raptor series is offered in a 9007 Hi/Lo, the ballasts are larger, but other than that would getting the Raptor series still be as easy installed as the other DDM kit.

I'm looking at getting this kit, 55w with 8000k bulbs and mounting kit. As far as I have read, the other series didn't need the Dual in-out harness, code eliminator, or adapter cables. Would this be everything needed for installation?
Thanks for the help

I dont see why the raptor kit wouldnt work, but I wouldnt know for sure since I have their normal one. But I would get the relay harness (I have it just to be safe) and you dont need the 55w one. I have the 35w 8000k and they are plenty bright. As far as anything else just make sure you disable your DRL's, there is a sticky that tells ya how.

Well this raptor kit Ididnt see the relay harness, it wasnt listed as an option. I talked to a few people on aim last night, and they said the kit should work, so I did order it. I would like to have the relay harness for safety, but I didnt see it. Maybe I can find one on the site and buy it separately. Also, thanks for mentioning the DRLs, I knew that at one point, and then forgot and I may have forgotten to do that ! Yikes.
Thank you so much for the input, I wonder if any Org members are using the Raptors and how large the ballasts really are.

I am running three of the raptor kits and I love them. The ballasts are kinda big but easily hideable. You should be able to find the harness on the site under lighting accessories.
My new 35W 6000K Raptor setup should be here today. 35W 6K should be plenty bright. I got the harness and ballast brackets too just to be safe. I would say use the harness if you go 55W regardless. Don't want to burn up your wiring.
Alright, that is awesome that you guys are running the same setup, since I did go ahead and get the 55w, I will find the wiring harness and order it today to be safe.
Would it be the Relay Harness or Wiring Kit on this page, I have heard relay harness used, but its saying that is for a bimmer, and the wiring kit supplies less initial voltage for smaller gauge wires, which I thought was the point. That way I order the right thing from this list.

Thanks again.

you would need the relay harness. there should be an option to select your headlight type.
there ya go. I couldnt get my HIDS to turn on with the harness on... fuse is good... any ideas?
quick question. i have a 99 so i have the two bulbs if i just bought the hid kit for my low beams [i only have low projectors] would it still swap over to my highbeams with just normal bulbs in it?

Just to clarify, Not the DDE relay harness.
This is the one I have.

I have seen alot of issues with the ballast case grounding out, or the power wires are backwards. I have read posts about this issue also.

Yes.
You would just need to order the kit for the 9005 bulb (i think it is 9005...) and get the relay harness for it. I have them in my high, low, and fog lights.
9006 low on 95-99 haha. 9005 high.
I think 00+ uses a 9007
I can never remember either though.

Alright, that sounds good,so two of the posts linked me to the wiring harness, which you could not choose headlight type, but the it looks fairly universal, so I will go ahead and order
this, and go from there. I appriciate all the help and I will post results when I get it and any installation questions to aid others with this setup in the future.

hey all. time for my .02 .... i have the 35w 6k ddm's in my 07 impala and have almost no need for brights anymore. the crisp white light is fantastic and carries much further than the halogens they replaced. (stock headlight assemblies) i would question using them in high beams as they do have a short lag time as they come up to full illumination. hopefully the 55w setup will counter the lowered output of the 8k bulbs. 5k would be considered almost perfect white light, my 6k's have just the slightest tinge of blue, but by the time you slide further to 8 or even 10k you may be a bit disappointed in output. if you are only going for "the look" that's one thing, but driving through enough deer country in michigan makes me want to have the best, brightest lighting possible. the ddm bulbs are relatively inexpensive, so you won't be incurring much financial hardship if you do ever want to experiment a bit. the wiring harness is quite easy to install, and will be the way to go. glad you did that. definitely post pics when you get things all fired up. peace, john
That is the correct harness Karnage
Dave
The harness had 12.09 shipping and the harness was 12.50.. so people who haven't ordered yet.. make sure to get the harness with your original order.. or it will cost you 25 dollars

I wouldn't go with the 55 watt kit, besides having to run a harness I've read horror stories about the intense heat of the 55 watt kit baking the reflective coating off of head lights and ruining the relector.
35 watts is bright as hell in the right housing, and you don't really have to worry about harnesses.
I have 6000k 35w slim ballasts from DDM in my high and low beams, and 3000k 35w slim ballasts form DDM in my fogs. The only problems I've run into were corrosion problems from the salty water on the roads getting into connections.

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.
One last question I have is how does the hi/lo work? It says it comes with a controller for it,does it work with the nornal stalk on the steering wheel, or is it a switch I need to wire into the cabin?
By the way, Transporter That looks really good. I only went 55w, because I have heard a lot of others have gone with it and recommended it, but looking at your pics it looks plenty birght, and I also probably should have went with a lower color rating, but is already on its way, thanks for the heads up though.

The hi-lo's work with the stalk just like factory lights, with no extra wiring required. I have the 55w package, 8000k with hi-lo...I didn't get the upgraded harnesses and have been running the kit with no issues at all for about a year now, my lights are always on when I'm driving because I haven't gotten around to doing the drl disable. The 8000k looks pretty close to white with the 55w option...I also haven't had any melting issues or anything, so its been pretty painless and my favorite mod to my car so far...lol
Woot, now that Fedex is done @!#$ up, I can now get my stuff today.
Sweet. Will post up when done tonight.
Got my stuff....I gotta question the Raptor kit..It is identical to my old Ebay kit....
Well, Who cares I guess. Woot for lifetime warranty.
Airgazm- That is a really nice looking picture you got, and I got the same kit so your post was a lot of great info.
Mike - Maybe you just had an awesome Ebay kit?
When are you gonna do the install and get some sweet ass pics?

Got them in last night. No pics, My camera is broke and still haven't gotten a new one. We will see about some cell pics later.
I dig them. My high beams are useless now too haha. I think I'm going to order some whiter bulbs...6K is a little too blue for me.
