i just got a ddm tuning hid kit, hooked it all up correctly and didnt even get a flicker. so i threw the halogens back in and they work fine. i know everything is wired correctly...its basically idiot proof, but i was reading in the troubleshooting section on ddms site and it says that a lot of gm's are reverse polarity meaning that if i plug the oem connector into the ballast backwards it would work. im just curious if anyone knows that this is how j's are or what. its a 97 z24 that im tryin to put these in. guess id just like to get the go-ahead before i go plugging things in backwards
Make sure you disable DRLs using the sticky on the top of the forum, without doing that it probably wont work, I pulled the fuse for DRLs and it didnt work, I had to do it the way the guide shows and then it worked. I used the same kit.

my understanding was that the drls just affect the high beams and im just doin the low beams. could this still be an issue?
Neither the lows or highs worked until I did this. So its worth a shot. If not the only other thing is I would check the wiring off the ballast and make sure nothing is backwards, it was trial and error with the wires, then did the DRLs and played with the wiring colors to get the right colors matched up.
I have a 2001 so it has the 9007 hi/lo, but I dont think it would be too different as far as setup. 55w 8000k with upgraded harness.

On my 98 I had to swap the pins in the connector. I didnt use a DDM kit, but it may correct your issue after you dissable DRLs.
Just reverse the plug. I am currently running 3 HID kits from DDM in my car and they all are reversed. Also, I would suggest doing the DRL disable, I personally haven't heard of that effecting the workings of the HID's but I also disabled mine before even getting the kit.
Oh, and did you get the relay harness too or are you just using the stock wiring? I would highly recommend the harness, if nothing more than just a little piece of mind. It is well worth the $15 that it would cost you for it.
