I was born in california in marina del ray, moved to north carolina, and now reside in ontario....from my fathers jobs back and forth, we live here now and Im going to be a proud canadian....reason im on here saying is this because all my friends from NC the ones that havent come here yet are like whats it like?I found that in USA we were taught nothin about canada, living in both countries i defintetly would have to choose this country....... I must say california was nice, I lived on the between venace beach and huntington beach, and believe me it was good at times, and id like to go there this summer with the guys I hang out with here, they wanna check it out.... anyways this post wasnt to piss anyone off, i wouldnt see a point in any of that.... What? Have a gun? I think your parents need to worry about something more important than if somebody has a gun. Who cares if they do? I would rather have one and not need it than to need it and not have it. Just like a seatbelt. You do wear your seatbelt right? So do I and I also carry a pistol from time to time.

isnt that movie like 2 years old?

michael moore is a whore and i hate him just for making a movie that has anything to do with columbine, especially since his imformation is never right

btw i would hate him even if he didnt make the money ... his views of everything is so warped its not even funny
I love how everyone hates him because his movies voice an opinion or show a perspective different from their own.
Not saying I love the guy, but you should really listen to yourselves.
no, we hate him because he throws bs up there as fact and the sheep that is america eats it right up and believes every word he says. having and expressing your own opinion is great, trying to pass complete bs off as a fact, is horrible

It's not all bs. He has an agenda, welcome to the political world.
It's funny because a lot of people lay down these ideals against the other side, and misst the forest for the trees so to speak.
There might be a whole lot of responsible gun owners out there, but there are just as many irresponsible owners too. The problem is that once you have those weapons, it's damned hard to take them away. Why not impose a limit on weapon weapons ownership? Do the people REALLY need to have an AK-47 propped up against their bedside table?
Hardly.
Owning a pistol and carrying it for "personal safety" is a farce... Cops carry them as a job requirement, and they get shot dead enough that it's an automatic death-penalty case in most states to kill a uniformed or declared police officer.

ok ive never seen bowling for columbine but ive seen farenhight 911, and i know he takes facts and reshapes them to say what he wants them to say, im not gonna elaborate on it because im a bad speaker, but you know what i mean. as far as guns for saftey being a farce......its hard to say how many lives are saved by people carrying guns, i've been threatened a few times and firmly belive if i had not had a gun i would be dead right now, and i never even had to fire a shot, just pull it out. as for the ak-47 you mention GAM, sure its not needed, but hey, why not have it, its fun to shoot full auto weapons and besides, if someone broke into my home and i whip out an ak-47 i bet they'll run real fast

Mike: by the time you picked up the rifle, someone with a handgun drawn would have air-conditioned your interior.
Target and skeet shooting is fun, no doubt, but there is a limit. I don't see the interest in spraying a whole load of hot lead at something and maybe hitting it 3 out of 20 times... if it's for self-defense, an assault rifle is nearly useless unless you have a lot of range between you and the target, and on top of that, if you use the weapon, you'd better be dead on target because, most handgun projectiles are fully capable of breaking through a plater and lathe wall, not to mention the swiss cheese they'll make of wallboards. If you have kids, well, hope you've got armour plating in their sleeping areas when you start shooting.

Yes, he has an agenda. Maybe not ALL of it is BS, but damn near.
There are far more responsible gun owners than irresponsible. Just like anything else, you only here the "newsworthy", AKA someone gets shot. Have you ever seen a story of someone using a gun to STOP a crime? Not likely. It is not useful for a news agency to report such things. It is estimated that guns are used roughly 2 million times a year to prevent a crime. Less than 1% involve actually firing.
A farce? Like I said, its a seatbelt. I surely hope I never have to use it, but the first time you need it and don't have it, you're dead. To answer your question.....Why impose a limit? What did I do to deserve this? That is me being punished for someone else's crime. I don't think so. Do I need an AK-47? No. Do I want one? Yes, they are cool. They are a great design. They are fun to shoot. Do you need a car? No. Do you want one? Yes, they are cool. They are fun to drive.
Do you see what I'm saying? It is not an issue of NEED, it is an issue of me doing what brings me joy, to persue my happiness. This is a RIGHT I have. Who are you to take that away? I love to shoot, anything, anywhere, I love to shoot.
Do you have to like it? Hell no! I don't care if you never touch a gun in your life. But you damn sure better let me if I want to.
I'm sure I won't change your view any more than you'll change mine. I'm just trying explain my reasons.

GAM please define what you think an assault weapon is?
As for and AK needing alot of range between you and a target you have no clue what you are talking about. Rifle ballistics perform just as well close as they do far (if anything your only argument would be: at a long range the bullets do not carry the kinetic energy they do at close ranges). if you want to talk about the gun being to big to manuver in close ranges once again bs, short barrel configurations allow easy manuverations, why do swat teams use M4's in close ranges?
Do not confuse a semi automatic AK, AR, or various other models to their full auto versions. The AK's that are commonly bought are semi auto versions that perform no differently than a Browning BAR semi auto commonly used for hunting in the same calibers.
When our assault ban expired the only thing it allowed us to do was add a bayonete lug, flash suppressor, high cap magazine, collapse butt stock to guns bought after the 1994 ban. you've always been able to buy 'pre-ban' guns (at high prices) in this configuration that were made before September, 1994.
If you owned your rifle before than you can add any of these features to it and commonly purchase high cap magazines. What is the difference between me having a 10 shot mag and 20?? What does it matter if I have a bayonette lug on my rifle or not. The banned features have ZERO affect on the bullet that comes out of the rifle, for exapmly a banned ar 15 and a ban free ar 15 shoot the same bullet at the same speed with the same effect.
You made some very untrue statements and I would like to know where you get your facts not Moore's opinions for these:
"There might be a whole lot of responsible gun owners out there, but there are just as many irresponsible owners too. "
"Owning a pistol and carrying it for "personal safety" is a farce... "
I carry a pistol for protection so according to you I don't??? Why do I carry it then??
By the way to own a full auto rifle in the US you can't just run tro your local gun store and pick it up. There is alot more paperwork and back ground checking, here is what I had to do for my 50 BMG:
Payment must be made in full before transfer papers will be submitted to
B.A.T.F.E. If you are paying by check, we will hold the item for you for
a resonable time period awaiting your payment. We reserve the right to
reject an order for any reason.
3. Identify a Class III (Machine Gun) dealer near you. Impact Guns has
reputable class 3 dealers willing to do transfers on file all over the
country. We will assist you in locating one near you. Put his shipping
address on your online order. You should also contact several regular
dealers and ask them if they know of a class 3 dealer. Also a good
source for leads are local shooting clubs, firing ranges, NRA members,
etc. Your local class 3 dealer will be doing the ATF Form 4 transfer to
you. He will usually charge $50.00 to $100.00 for this service.
Have the dealer (or you can) fax, e-mail, or mail his license F.F.L.
(Federal Firearms License) and his S.O.T. (Special Occupational Tax) to
us. Use this convenient form. Print it out, fill in the blanks, and give
it to your dealer as a faxable coversheet.
We will transfer the gun to your local Class III dealer on ATF Form 3.
This transfer will usually take between 4-6 weeks, depending on backlog
at the BATF.
We ship to your Class III dealer upon form-3 approval. We will notify
you when this happens.
Inspect your gun (at your dealer) within 5 days. If you are unsatisfied,
we will have the gun returned to Impact. Refunds are issued after the
firearm is back in our possession, less shipping and handling charges. A
restocking fee may apply.
If you are satisfied, then the gun is transferred on a Form-4, from your
dealer to you. This may take approx 90 days+, again depending upon the
BATF and the FBI.
NFA items are Special Order items. Payment must be made in full before
transfer papers are submitted to B.A.T.F.E. Cancellations made before
ATF papers arrive may incurr a restocking fee.
Do some research before you post statements as facts.
As far as shooting through walls, do you believe that a police officer who has no clue of the layout of a persons house should be able to shoot an armed person in that house?

well my big deal with gun banning and stuff is this. they already started with full auto, now california wants to ban 50 caliber semi auto rifles, next theyre just gonna restirct more calibers, then its gonna be handguns, then more rifles, then shotguns, until all guns are banned. and when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns

CAWPIN, yes it is a Barrett Model 82A1 semi converted to semi or 3-burst. You can also buy suppressors legally through the same steps as you buy a full auto.
mikec2003, I agree with you on California, it's a shame.

Just so you guys know. The VPC (Violence Policy Center), AKA we want to ban all guns, is backing a federal bill to reclassify .50 and larger as destructive devices. I don't think it has a chance, but they are never gonna stop trying. The wording is something like "intermediate and large sniper rifles" or some schitt that can always be changed in the future. There is a story in the current issue of
American Rifleman about it.

If all those kids got shot up, i am sure most of them deserved what they got. If your going to raise your kid to pick on people that are "different" or because they dont have nike shoes or whatnot. teach your kids to STFU and quit picking on people and they wont have to worry about getting there ass shot off.
As the saying goes "guns don't kill people, people kill people".
PAcrossbow: Thanks, I really didn't need the refresher on what constitutes an assault rifle (You're new enough that you probably haven't gone back in the archive to see that this isn't a new topic... and what you're saying is hardly inventive). Do you understand that the conversion of an AK-47, or CAR-15 to full automatic is as simple as buying $45 worth of illegal parts at a gun show, and a larger clip?
The point is that access should NOT be a right. It's a priviledge just like driving, otherwise, would you allow convicted murderers the RIGHT to own, would you allow drivers that have multiple DUI's the RIGHT to drive?? I dare say no in both cases, because they've proven they are unable to handle the responsibility of ownership/use. And before you say it, I advocate disallowing convicted DUI/DWI drivers from owning vehicles.
And you had to fill out papers to own a weapon? I
weep for you. Was there a criminal records check(Local/state/nat) with fingerprints? Was there a mandatory safety/inspection/service course required with a minimum passing grade? If there was, there's no mention of it..You've just pointed out that you had to pay an extra $100 max and fill out some forms to own a weapon that is being used by military personnel (with or without conversions). I dare say, 1: you'll never go hunting game with that, and 2: it's not for personal defence... why? I don't think you'll be able to swing that around in time enough to catch a would-be burglar. Other than you think it's cool, what possible use could you have for that weapon? Being cool should not be the yard stick to owning a weapon or munitions that have no practical hunting/personal defence applications.
Also, for shooting through walls: no, police don't know the layout of a house, but (for RCMP beat police, most other police forces it's yearly) they are required to certify for pistols/revolvers and rifles at least every 6 months. They're also required to put in a certain amount of time at a firing range before re-cert, it's on the order of 60 hours, and proficciency scores are submitted. Point of fact, Police need to do this for their job's sake, the average joe gun owner doesn't. Tell me how often you can make centre mass at 20 yards? Could you stake your job on it? could you stake your child's life on it? BTW, that BMG's bullet has enough kinetic dump to go through an engine block and a brick wall (in the same shot), wall board doesn't mean a damned thing.
Anyhow, what reason do you need to carry a pistol? Personal protection? Are you that uncertain of your life that you need a pistol? Come on. Grow up, keep your eyes and wits about you. Unless you're a cop, you don't NEED a pistol.

yes personal protection, have you ever had someone come up to you acting normal, then pull a knife on you?, its a horrible feeling, im glad i had a gun, it saved my life, he pulled a knife, asked for my wallet, and instead of a wallet, he had my taurus pt92 in his face, he dropped his knife and ran, i had my eyes open, but he had no reason to make me suspect him till he had a knife to me, i perfer a gun to any other kind of defense because if need be, a gun is a permanenet solution, so if someone makes the mistake of breaking into my house, it will never happen again. Im sorry but i just do not trust police to "protect and serve" most times a police response is too slow to protect, armed citizens are the best protection against crime
besides i like my pistol for recreational shooting, i like competition target shooting, its entertaining to me, its also nice to have one that is good for defense.

Uhhhh, name me one school that doesn't have a kid picking on another kid. And when I say school, I mean any educational institution, playschool, kindergarten, elementary, junior/senior high, university, college whatever.
You can't because kids will be kids. Should I have to be worried for my children because they are acting the way normal children act, all because a kid took a gun from his dad who felt it is his 'right' to own an AK?
